oh yeah
(from the link above
There is legislation to close that federal loophole, to instead classify war dogs as "canine members of the armed forces" instead of equipment. It'd require the military to ship the dogs home and allow nonprofits to help adopters foot the steep veterinarian bills. But the bill is currently stalled in a gridlocked Congress. (from the link above) Obama or Mittens could REALLY make Political hay outta THIS, and scoop up a few millions of dog lovers' votes for Prez in the fall. Depends on WHICH one of 'em grabs this low hanging fruit FIRST.

If you think getting a dog is tough just try and buy a retired parade horse.
It can be done, but you have to be considered the right kind of person by the US Calvary. However, there is a good reason for this. These horses are what's known as 'high strung' or something like that which is horsy code for 'you had better know what you are doing around horses or this thing could kill you'. When these animals come up for sale a lot of people want them, but as the Bible says: Many are called but few are chosen. And that's a good thing. |

Why would anyone want to adopt a combat dog...you're taking food off of the first families dinner table!!
