T-handle hex keys. Ball end or not?

Thinking of getting some of these:

Hex Key Set, T-Handle, 9In, 8Pc, Antislip - Hex and Torx Key Sets - Wrenches - 5LM98 : Grainger Industrial Supply

Wondering if they can handle 20Nm torque?

at that price why not upgrade to something made by Matco? I scored my set from a pawnshop for $50 (new is around $70)

trying to find reviews on the set you linked.

I've read that under extreme torque the ball end can snap off on some allen drivers.

I like my Matco set, I am missing the 5.5mm out of it but that size I never run into on a Benz. I also have a few SK hex drivers and they work nicely as well.

I'm obviously not going to buy it at that price. Looking at $30 or so. Plus the stuff is made in Illinois.

Im always on the look out for stuff. When I found my allen set I actually bought it and another Matco t handle torx drivers set. Which I then sold the torx to my mechanic for $50, thus covering my cost of both sets.

that was an awesome deal.

I have a friend that repairs printing equipment. He says that those ball ended T handled wrench's are REALLY helpful to him.

I actually never sell to them, they are a business and have to turn a profit. I sell through forums and lastly ebay. But if there is a tool I'd like or need I'll check out some pawnshops before buying it used and lastly new.

Yeah I think I'm going to get a set. I shouldn't have asked on here. I'm starting to get real cheap about them.

nah, cheap is the harbor freight version. Which the old style sucks, I snapped a plastic handle. But they have a new version that is like the L handle style everyone else makes. They seem to be good quality.

I have both regular and ball end in std and metric.
Ball ends are great but will snap off if you use it to break a bolt loose.

That's good to know about the ball end busting. So one for high torque one for convenience. But I suppose if you can get a non ball end in there you should be able to turn in anyway.

Right?

Damn.

Ball end is good for an angled removal. I have sets of allen hex drivers (1/4") that go in a 5/16 - 1/4 ratchet that Home Depot sells that takes hex bits. I use it for busting loose. Then ball end or regular hex screw driver or Tee.

Set from wiha: I got one these metric, one std.

we bought true "allen" wrenches for years and used to put pipes on them to get bolts out of molds. We only put pipes on ball ends once. I would only plan to use them for running in or running out, if you want it tighter than that use a square end good quality tool. As I remember the "allen" brand ones fell off in quality around '88, then we switched to bondhus, but I have been out of the trade since '91
