Frank,

I might be able to get a picture or two of one of these beasties. Franz, the local MB Indie had a couple, sold one locally and last I knew Franz was still driving the other now and then. You can also catch a glimpse of them on one of the JAG episodes as they were used to represent a Russian or Chechyan military convoy.

When I return the chain crimping tool, guide and pin puller, I'll ask if he still owns on and find out when he'll bring it down the mountain.

Howdy Kerry & Mike,
Kerry, here is a website for you to look at.
Mike, the trucks this friend is looking for are/ were in the Malaysian Army. That is what makes thissearch so hard. We can find Pinzes in a lot of places but not from there. The Pinz that you are talking about are they from Hemet or Big Bear? Thanx for your quick responses. http:www.pinzgauer.com

Frank,

Nope, never made it to any JAG shoots. The Pinzes that were used in the JAG episode were the ones out of Hemet to the best of my knowledge, and two of them were bought by Franz.

I had the opportunity to give one a good look while at Franz' shop once. Looks to be a fairly tough, yet simple machine. Very "old Mercedes" type of thing, with the very spartan interior.

Howdy Mike,
Mercedes had a hand in the developement of the Pinz. Some parts sharing also. The portal axles from the Mog are used on the Pinz. A little more info than you needed to know A very capable off-roader. I hope you get to go for a ride in one.

I was informed that the Malaysian army has all their vehicles supplied by the local manufacturer - a company called DRB-Hicom. No more imports ...

So, when you said that a guy you know has heard rumours that the Army *had* some Pinzes ... well, its true.

They had it but not anymore.

Perhaps you may have more questions?

I live in Denver and see quite a few Pinzgauer's driving around here. I have no idea how they get here but they all look like military surplus vehicles (Maybe I see the same one repeatedly) i remember reading a review of them about 20 yrs ago and they looked like great off road vehicles.

Denver Pinz

Howdy Kerry Edwards,
A very active group are the Rocky Mountain Moggers. They have a number of Pinzgauers in the club. Do a search and you will find the best Mog site on the web. Enjoy

Howdy Kerry,
I do have some more questions for you. First; Any late model diesel powered 6x6's with the designation 718 TD ? Any autos ( ZF 4HP derivative)? Without getting into trouble can you dig up any pictures? Or do you know any websites that might have some pics? And last; Do you know anything about the Malaysian Truck & Bus Company? I guess they assembled the Pinzes. If you want you can send me a private e-mail.Thanx. The guy I'm getting this info for is going to owe you a lot of beer
