FYI, USAA car insurance does have a tolerance limit

and the number is 40 vehicles insured in less than 10 years.

That number seems to trigger an underwriters policy review of what exactly you think you are doing, and maybe you need some kind of commercial dealers insurance policy. They still insured the latest 500 dollar toy, but the love seemed to evaporate in the conversation with the representative when he discovered how many cars ive owned and legally insured. Unfortunately, it was a guy, I can usually charm and flirt with the girls over the phone.

Guess I have to cool it for a while, let the dust settle, maybe wait till next year for any new toys. For those of you with the awesome services of USAA, you are warned!

its just cheap with unparallelled service and benefits. It would be a shame if I irritated them too far.

The real problem is its difficult to explain to someone the hobby of auto projects. Especially someone who has owned one or two cars in their life, and works in a cubicle for an insurance company. They just don't get it.

If its a woman that calls me I might be able to use the shoe argument.

I had decent service from progressive and geiko, so maybe any new car might have to be insured with them. Ive actually been fairly good recently too, back when I was younger, id have 2-3 cars per month, just flying through them.

I think the grand total would be like 70-80 registered cars in 15 years, 5 a year sounds about right, if you are running 2-3 at a time, and switching them off. Not counting motorcycles, that would add maybe 20.

I thought I was being pretty good too, i know some guys who have had several hundred cars in the same time period. the difference is they don't register them legally I guess

USAA as changed over th etwo decades I have had them, for the worst. Recently had a nonrenewal of homeowners from them for 4 claims in 5 years. 3 were cumulative wind events and one broken pipe... prior to that, no home owner claims ever....

USAA, at one time was inexpensive, is now very expensive. The service is the best and that is the only thing that is keeping my cars insured with them. I have been looking and I could save over $1,000 a year with someone like Geico or State Farm.

I don't think that I've owned 40 cars in my life.

I don't know if they are expensive or not as I have only used them in my 10 years of driving. They do have great service and its nice to be able to see all of my banking and insurance in one log on. I pay about $1600 a year in insurance for my fully covered mazda and my liability benz. I don't think I will ever have a problem with too many cars as I seem to not really want too many cars that I can actually afford any more. I want the ones I can't, so I guess Ill just stick to the ones I got for now.

hmmm, for me its very inexpensive.

So the shoe argument worked!

A very pleasant lady called and we discussed at length the situation and her collection of shoes. An audit was basically triggered by more than 10 cars on my policy having been insured for less than 2 days. (parts cars that were drivable that I drove home to strip or tinker with).

She recommended that I try to tow cars like that to avoid any kind of insurance review, since it appears like im operating a used car business on my personal insurance, when in that case it needs to be upgraded to a commercial policy.

Ended very well, once again I am extremely pleased with USAA customer service, and she even challenged me to break 100 cars insured sequentially on my policy.
