goodbye for now.

My computer has screwed up once again and therefore leaves me without stable access to anything. HP is wanting this computer back... AGAIN (19th time in this series of computers) which will take a week to get there. a few days for testing and possibly a week to get back. if I am lucky.... I have no other backup computers right now so. until then, Adeu avoir etc, I may be able to check in again... not holding that promise.

That sucks. Computers are great until they make you want to smash them with a sledge hammer. Hopefully they can turn it around quickly and we'll see you back here soon!

I had a problem with the MB on a brand new top of the line HP desktop. They messed around for a year having me tear it apart, re-seat cards, memory, etc, sent countless firmware and bios updates and it still never worked right.

I finally gave up and spent over $300 to buy a new MB and operating system. Because the stock HP Windows 7 would not work with the EVGA MB.

Oh and I also had to modify the case because it was custom built for the original crappy MB.

OK, rant off...

after a shockingly fast repair I'm still at square one. while I have graphics back, I've had to reboot the computer about 5 times to get it to come back up again... I'm at wits end. I do have a smart phone, but trying to do what I need to do on the iPhone screen is near impossible. the few days i've used it was an absolute pain... not to mention the wifi is not as strong... I'd love to get my hands on an Original iPad but that is out of the question as nobody is interested in selling and chances are I cant afford it... This computer has a terrible history. In the time I've had this computer series I've had now over 22 Repairs, and 4 or 5 outright replacements and have always had graphics issues. the original computer lasted 9 months, the next 6, repaired 15 times and replaced, the replacement lasted 4-5 months, repaired a few times, then replaced. that one lasted 4 months, repaired several times and had an emergency replacement due to the computer starting to smoke/smolder and now this one has had an issue since 6 weeks with the computer rebooting without video a few times then it will all of a sudden start working again... sorry to rant.... I'm just....Very frustrated, and very annoyed with the whole situation... For the time being I have a computer to use for now..... I wish there was some sort of Lemon law on computers...

I saw a thread somewhere, I think on THIS forum that indicated that the original IPad is quickly moving to the non support status.

Unfortunately when this happens usually it is a component that they are not catching as the issue (like the power supply for example), which just keeps destroying things again and again. It's even worse if it is an intermittent problem...this is why I build all my own pcs. Better quality control and easy replacement of any component since they're standardized...no fooling around with proprietary cables and leads that are essentially the same but prevent you from upgrading.

I dont care. It's still useable for Email, Chatting and posting easier without a computer.

Power supply was new with Each PC and they replaced it again this time around... I dunno.... I dont have room for a desktop PC currently and I like to edit on the go websites etc... time will tell what happens...

I understand that. I have an IPad2 on which I run a comprehensive Aviation in flight software application. It is easy and evidently virus free or at least virus resistant for email, surfing and the like.

If those are the only things you want to do, the IPad will serve you well. It's just that buying the most recent version, might work out better in the long run.

If you buy one, there are some keyboards available that beat the heck out of the on screen touchpad. My wife bought my IPad for me as a Christmas present. She also bought a keyboard with a leather case that the IPad slips into. They communicate via bluetooth and I can touch type on the keyboard quite nicely. In flight the leather case allows me to swing the IPad around so that the leather holds it on my lap. A very nice accessory for an IPad.

Good luck with it.

It's more "computer" than most of the users in the world actually need.
