Talking Let me introduce myself..

Ahoy everyone,

I wanted to introduce myself and my car..I'm John, 25, from the chicagoland area. For the past five years I've worked as a retail manager and have recently quit to pursue a career in real estate/investing. I love to work with my hands, be outdoors, and live a healthy lifestyle. I try to do as much as I can on my own cars. I've done complete suspensions on a few jap cars but have never gotten past the valve cover mechanically..never needed to..yet haha.

The car is a 1991 420SEL with around 143k miles on her. bought her from my indy who is a Mercedes tech that opened his own shop with his sons. I gave him my practically new 1994 v6 Camry and a couple grand for it. It's BEAUTIFUL, I smile every time I open the garage. I don't have records but it's a one 'doctor' owner car and my indy knew him personally. He mentioned that he worked on the car while still employed with Mercedes and the man started bringing the car to his shop...Original owner then purchased a new one, and sold this to him. Judging from the service stickers on the windshield it's been looked after quite often & well..interior nearly pristine. Lots of golf tees everywhere! I very much love the authoritative calmness of it's driving demeanor, as well as it's stone-like state.

Back when I was 16 or so I read nearly every thread that was on this forum in hopes of purchasing a W201, or w124 as my first car...I learned a lot. my dad convinced me otherwise so i bought the damn Camry. I think this was largely due to him being discouraged by his two Audi 5000's (i know) and also the stigma (i believe) associated with the "high" cost of maintaining a Mercedes..I really don't think it's so bad as long as you diagnose and repair in a timely manner...without getting too frustrated that is.. The Camry swallowed 3500 of my dollars, quite happily. So here I am finally! I'm very proud of my car! There are pics in my profile..

I look forward to much more helpful information from this awesome community of members! I appreciate what is put together here...and I will do my best to contribute as well

-John

P.S. I have a tatoo of the three pointed star.. upper arm..when people @ the beach would ask if I had one, I would say I AM ONE haha

Welcome aboard. The presence of golf tees can be interpreted in at least a couple of ways.
