Has your MB ever been vandalized?

I'm just wondering, because I have nightmares practically every night that I'm going to go out to my car in the morning and find "capitalist pig" keyed into the side. You must understand that my car lives in Berkeley, CA -- a town full of rowdy, often radical students who frequently like to wage war against the capitalist "oppressors" who "keep us down". At any rate, I'm just wondering if I'm being irrational. There isn't a day that goes by where I don't worry at least a couple of times that somebody is doing malicious harm to my car. My friends even advise me not to cover my car when it's in Berkeley, as the cover (which says MB on it and has the star) will only attract negative attention.

So, has anyone actually had their MB vandalized? Does this
really happen? Has anybody ever stolen your star?

You ever see Naked Gun where the doctor is working on a device that grabs and squeezes (use your imagination - e.g. it only works on a guy) in case someone does something to your car or tries to rob you? Wouldn't that device be great?! Not that I have anything against hippies personally, but it'd be great to come out to find one lying on the ground grabbing his crotch in pain while holding the key he began to key your car with... LOL.

Maybe they can break into my 300D and steal that funny smell its been carrying around... Other than that, about the only thing of value is the new brake pads :D :D

Just another good reason to own an old POS.

Well, this is what I walked up to my car and found (after just leaving her about 3 hours prior). Took my CD head unit, and over 300 CD's (notice the bag on the side-- I guess they figured they didn't want any of that stuff in there because it only contained something they couldn't relate to. An honest job's paperwork but if they'd searched thru that they'd have a $600 digital cam too). A hard lesson learned on my part because that was the first and LAST time I leave my DETACHABLE face on after I exit my cars, even for a minute. Before this I never ever did such a thing but was dog tired and had a crapload of records I took in and figured I'd be leaving for work (day job) in a couple of hours and the car would be alright...They really got a bonus because of the CD cases I had under the seat (supposedly out of view, but hell when you break in for the radio, why not look around?) They also broke the ashtray's wood snatching the unit and broke the antenna wire which meant I had to replace the entire power antenna unit and run a new wire. Everything's cool now but what a flashback!http://dj-newk.cityslide.com/albums/...6/91115/855233

Target

Some local yobbo thought it was cool to scratch a 12" Nazi swastika onto my passenger side window with something like a diamond ring.Just proving that driving a 20 year old Mercedes still makes some people envious. That cost me £20 (about $28 US) to replace from a breakers plus a couple hours of my time. The only good thing to come out of it is I'm now quite expert at changing side windows in my 123:-Bear

In twenty years time or so she'll be hopefully settling down struggling to cope with married life ,bringing up her own kids, still paying for her car ect, ect. That is when somebody will do it to her hopefully,oh we can wish :-Bear

I live in downtown Atlanta,GA, and I'm paranoid every night when I park the car for the evening (like right now, for instance! I think I'll go look out the window...). I really need to move to a place with a garage. :(

Jeeesh...I'm glad I'm not in school anymore!

MBs are prevalent in the DFW area so most people leave them alone...

...the Ford F150s are the targets down here!

Small town (Red head)

So glad I live in a small town where not much happens. My biggest worry is when my wife asks "what's this light on the dash for?" Well I don't Know honey, when did it come on? When I left the house. (60 miles ago).  (240,000 + miles on the old Dodge truck) Thank God it was only a defective sending unit.:D

...seems like there's an 'anti-nice things' or an 'envious' element in all areas of the world...so, these 'nice' objects can unfortunately be the focus of backlash/expression at any time

seldom will one, catch a door dinger/ vandal 'in the act', press charges, etc.- so its best to carry the appropriate amount of comprehensive insurance with the appropriate deductible and not worry about it excessively, 'cause- life happens (alternatively, one may choose to keep the cash in reserve vs. paying an insurance company in the event one wishes to fix those pesky mishaps)

keeping nice things nice is not easy in this day and age

PS- and yes, at multiple moments in the last 10 years my vehicles have been vandalized/ burglarized

Stop consuming, produce yourself

Yup. 'Bout three months ago I noticed one of the chrome valve
caps missing from my car (hey, she's that special). I have no
idea why the butt munch only took one. I decided to take my pliers from the trunk and tighten them (replaced the missing one too:D ). Sure enough a week or so later I noticed a nice casual
drag scratch on my passenger side quarter panel, curb side.
I don't know if it was the same culprit but ever since then I prey
on catching anyone scratchin my babies ass cause I'll gladly
use the pliers on another type of nuts....
