I am (strangely) attracted to...

Jaaaaaaags..... (the car, not the animals)

I dont know why... Everything I have heard, read, and seen seems to indicate that they are giant pieces of junk, but am still strangely attracted to them... Thinking something like an 04-08 XJ would fit me quite nicely....

They have horrible resale value, which is awesome, as super clean ones can be had for bargains!

Something like this XKR would be pretty sweet or this XJ8 would be the "bees knees"....

Hatty, where are you? I need you to talk me out of this one!

Yes, Jags are great LOOKING cars. Over the years, they've even built a few of them with decent quality control and there have been times when they were right on top of the latest technology.

Look at the sixties XKE's; four wheel Independent suspension, rack & pinion, rear inboard disc brakes, needle bearing suspension points, etc.

In practice though, they overheated and vapor locked. Oh well you can't have everything. They are INDEED sexy looking automobiles for the most part.

Yeah, your spot on with great looking... The XJ looks very menacing - very long and short body. IMO, very, very timeless.

Hopefully the mid to late 2000 models have decent quality control... They just look soooo damn good.

I currently own a 75 Jaguar XJ12C with a V12 engine. I love that car.

When I was looking for a modern driver, it was a toss up between an 05 XJR or an 03 E55. Even though the XJR is less powerful, the performance should be similar to the E55 as the all aluminum body is lighter. I do not expect it to handle or hold up as well as an E55. But it sure is pretty.

I ended up buying my old E420 from the fellow I sold it to and it's modern enough for me for now.

My brothers like you. He has the advantage of living in England where the things are as common as Chevys are here. He had two very nice ones. But it was a thankless task trying to keep them on the road. The last one he had sat outside his house for so long it showed up on google earth. It was towed away by another sadly deluded "enthusiast" ie nutter! He had a Range Rover too, but now all they have is a Volvo.

Have you seen the latest season of Mad Men?

SPOILER ALERT! (highlight to read)

The British guy couldn't even get his brand new Jag to start so he could off himself. The whole story line for the season is "how do we sell a car that is so unrelyable it comes with a tool box?"
