Is this a great country or what

Normally I am not a great believer in using "Blank-American" designations. But over the last couple of days a Cuban-American, an African-American and a Mexican-American won medals at the Winter Olympics, while competing for the USA. This was a first ever.

On 9-11 our enemies tried to mortally wound our great nation. What these mental midgets failed to realize is that as long as America continues to be the final destination for men and women seeking a better life for themselves and their children then America will never be destroyed, conquered or vanquished. Our strength is our people. Our blessing is the fact that this is truly the land of opportunity.

I am an American born in Cuba. My wife is an American born in Mexico. Our children are All-Americans!

God bless this great country.

Aaaamen! And last night, a Japanese American, Apollo Anton Ohno, won a gold in the 1500 meter short track!

I love it when Americans get behind people of different backgrounds: Mexcian-American, African-American, Japanese-American...

God I love this country...

You guys really do have a great country. Did you guys see Ross Perot on Larry King last night? I don't care what you think of the guy, you can't say that he doesn't love his country and works his butt off trying to make it a better place, instead of just talking about it. I have never seen any Canadian seem so passionate about doind something for their country unless beer and hockey are involved. Alot of people say there isn't much difference between Canada and the US, but I think there is a pretty big difference and it in the attitude. I have always respected Americans for the attitude they take towards their country, and I think its true what DeTouqueville said, America is great because its people are good, and if its people stop being good America will cease to be great. So keep up the great work, as I am planning on moving to the US and becoming a US citizen, even though new MBs are alot cheaper here in Canada. :)

My respect and admiration for all the people who work very hard every day to make this country so wonderful, doesn't matter their race, colour or religion.

My wife is an american and my daughters too ! I am not an american, but I do live as a legal resident in this beautiful country.

Good luck everybody !

I'm a Texan-American. On my Mother's side of the family, the mix is Irish-American and Native-American. On my Dad's side is German-American and Texan-American. So what does this make me?

IMHO, the color of a persons skin, or the country in which they or their ancestors were born doesn't mean diddly. It's what's in a persons heart that counts.

Have a great day,

I have a unique background... Polish/Egyptian-American.

I have a relatively unique background too - relatively rare these days.

I am an American-American.

Re; American/American

I don't think there is such a thing, is there?

Cap'n Carageous 02-22-2002 10:11 AM

There's such a thing an an Un-American.:)

DALE DORIA 02-22-2002 03:06 PM

I think I'm what you'd call a Mutt-American. My immigrant ancestor arrived from Derbyshire, England in the late 1600's, so naturally I can now claim to be almost everything. I think we can claim to be the following, in no particular order: English, Scottish, Dutch, German, Greek, Polish, French, Native-American (Blackfoot), French.

I prefer to just use the word, American, though...
