It's probable that no-one cares but .....

At one time, there were only two MB forums I followed, this one and BENZWORLD.ORG. My main reason was to mine knowledge about my cars. About three months ago, I erased BW from my favorites and no longer participate or observe that forum.

The reason is that the usual trashy Off-Topic irrelevancies in political/religious/semi-porno stuff are leaking badly into the technical topics. I note now that a number of the BWOT posters are starting the same here. Now, I realize that OT means one can open any topic under the sun but there are social networks for that. It is my opinion that forums such as these should stick to the relevant car topics and we could live without an OT at all.

I assume that will never happen so all I can ask of the moderators is to keep an eye on the usual suspects and keep the technical forums technical.

That's todays rant

The technical topics are being affected? you should link them so that we have an example.

Otherwise its an election year, people have opinions, they are gonna voice them. Not much that can be done about that, long as people stay more or less in the rules and are civil, place seems about the same as its been for the last couple years (during my tenure).

I have not noticed any bleed over either. In fact the people I most vehemently disagree with politically often are in complete agreement when it comes to things automotive.

It is an interesting phenomina and pleasant, I might add.

Rocky Raccoon, fell back in his room, only to find Peachparts comparable.

Mods said, "Rocky, it's only a forum"

Rocky said, "Mods, I find it all borin'.

But I'll come back, I'll be back and enabled!"

I would think that making a political comment in the tech section would be a giant waste of time. I mean, unless you know the back story of the subject then how would the comment even have any meaning?

Tech is tech and machines obey the laws of physics. What people do is of little concern in a tech conversation.

If you don't like OD, don't post, or read what others post here.
I could understand if OD bled into the Tech Forum, but I haven't seem it happen here.

What I think is distasteful and respect less on a technical car site is using political signatures or avatars. It can get heated around here but that's part of the fun. And I like to hear different opinions on subjects even that some in my opinion are completely insane...

An apt analogy is like not going to a library because you don't like cats and there a shelf of cat books there

I use BW mainly for technical and events threads, and PP for technical, events and OT.

I don't visit the BWOT section that much. If I do, I hardly see any threads I like. Some of the threads here are interesting too, aside from the usual political banter.

I have seen bleed over ONCE! I was trying to help someone with a diesel problem because no one else seemed to get engaged with it. Out of nowhere I was pummelled as if I had been posting something about Obama.

The moderator over there jumped right on it and did the old Barney Fife "nip it in the bud" routine. It came to a screeching halt. In Diesel Discussion at least, there's not much chance of the moderators tolerating any bleed over.

Sometimes people get carried away. I've seen it happen in both boards. Of course, if there's a troll in hiding, that's another matter.
