Getting rid of old house smell...

I bought a house made in 1948. It smells like old house. I bought some scented things but they only last a couple of days and now I can smell my house on me and my clothes when I'm at work. Is there a way to get that old house smell to go away? I've cleaned it all up and it's still there. Thanks

Try ZEP smoker's spray. It's good at killing smoke scent, and should work on that as well.

put charcoal in buckets around. great for absorbing odors. sister spilled a bottle of perfume in my moms old Aerostar, 3 buckets took the stench out in a couple weeks (dont use it afterwards)

A smoker friend has an Ozone generator which he says can get rid of any smell in his house in about an hour. If you get one, make sure you move yourself and all pets out when using it.

hmmm. I am assuming its drywall. I have no idea. I ripped the floor and walls out of the bathroom and I didn't find anything unusual there so I don't know if I would find anything behind the walls in the other places. The house is really small.

I wouldnt know how to tell unless you have access behind some of the walls, not worth tearing holes in walls to find out though. the deodorizing sprays or charcoal should help out though. or if you have a really nice day and minimal bugs, open up all the windows and let it air out pretty good.

What condition is the plumbing in? Any chance of a cracked or corroded sewage pipe allowing odors into the house? Did the previous occupants have pets? If so, even if the carpet and underlayment are discarded, liquids can soak into the wooden floors. Any insulation that may have been the previous home of rodents?

well its not a sewer smell. Its a smell Ive never smelled before Who knows about who lived here before. Its a duplex and Im sure it was always a rental property. There was no insulation in the outside wall in the bathroom so I assume the rest of the house has no insulation.
