Someone had fun in the sewing class. The funny thing was that an elderly woman had them in her cart and I had to wait until she went into the dressing room to take this pic.

I think that is less strange than the fact that they sell people's used underwear. I have heard of stranger stuff, but it wasn't at Goodwill. My friend's mother found a used dildo at a local thrift store and bought it for her daughter (my friend) as a joke (strange joke I might say).

I used to hit thrift stores when I traveled. It was an interesting way to gauge the local population and beat watching TV in my hotel room.

But I did find one thing I had to have... An ultrasonic cleaner for $5. Brand new but missing the lid. The retail price was $780.

It will really clean out a Mercedes door latch!

I bought a Gold Foil stamper at a thrift store for $35 The tag said Tile Cutter, but I knew what it was, I used it for a few years and then sold it for $450.

Do we even wanna know what granny planned on doing with them? But you should have asked her to hold them up so you could take a picture of her.

My first pair of skis came from a thrift store in Phoenix. I'd just learned how to ski and found them for I think $5. They were Yamahas and needed new bindings, but were otherwise in good condition and they served me well for several seasons. I think they might have been the first thing I personally bought at a thrift store.

Here's the last (a 24x36 print of an original, it needs new glass but it was $10):

We've picked up some rather nice paintings over the years while browsing at Goodwill and other thrift stores. If it's a print, I generally walk away from it, but I'll study a painting to decide if it's a subject or style that I appreciate.

In the '90's and early 2K's, I used to shop around at the thrift stores finding and scoring on some rather expensive carnival, depression and milk glass. Generally speaking, the store employees have no idea what they have, they only know that someone will pay a couple of bucks for it. You'd be surprised at the amount of money I made by re-selling many of the glass pieces I found.

All from the local thrift store. Most of my old apartment was furnished with thrift store finds, and I still have a lot of it including excellent hifi speakers ($10) and a 5.1 surround receiver ($20) that just needed the volume pot resoldered.

My wife owns a property clean out business, contracting to real estate agents and banks to clean out foreclosed properties. You should see some of the things we've grabbed as they were coming out of the houses...furniture, jewelry, etc. Most of it get's sold online or to family members.
