Screw you, Progressive!!

My loving wife has 4 points on her license, I have none. I contacted Progressive, like I do every 6 months, to see what I can do to lower the premium, and to add my 16 year old to the policy. They told me that to add her, the premium would increase $1000 for a 6 month policy. I told them that this was unacceptable. After using a few choice words to explain how they weren't kissing me before screwing me, they hung up on me.

I contacted an independent agent, who was able to get me a good policy, saving me $200 a month in the process, and then they told me that my daughter didn't need listed, as she only has her junior permit, not a normal license.

The only reason I was using Progressive is that I've been with them for 10 long years. The premium went up when I added my wife to my policy, since her driving record is so bad. I knew the cost was high, but I didn't think it was THAT high.

Minimum coverage on the Explorer and one of the F-250s, which they are listed as pleasure vehicles since I don't put more than 6k on them a year, and full coverage with $100/$100 on the Tahoe, and it's now only going to cost me $152 and change a month.

The 107 is covered by Haggerty, and that's not going to change.

Sorry Flo...but you really look like a Sea Hag now.

You will never win an argument with an actuary.

Sounds like you did alright, but also seems like you are comparing apples to oranges.
I would check with an independent third party regarding whether your daughter needs to be on the policy. After something happens would be a real bad time to discover that you were given incorrect information to secure the sale.

I shop prices twice a year too. A couple of years ago I was shopping around on the phone and called progressive. My son had a learner's permit. They insisted then on adding him right away, with crazy rates. GEICO had my policy then, and they told me they had no need to add him until he was fully licensed. So far in my situation nobody's beaten GEICO, and they dropped our rates as soon as my son turned 18 and I put the Subaru title in his name. I haven't filed any claims other than glass repair, so I can't comment on their claims service, but on the phone they're great.

Forgot to mention, Progressive didn't want to insure the 240D because it had a european VIN and wouldn't show up in their system. GEICO had no problem with it and the rate was silly cheap.

Did you ask your new agent what the impact be when she secures her license?

As long as she holds a learner's permit and is under 18, she' not required to be added to the policy. I double checked today at PennDOT while she took her written exam.

$100 additional per month, as long as her grades are B or above, $75 if they're all A's.

I've been hit by somebody covered by Geico and they were very courteous to me and did everything I could reasonably ask of them.

I also got hit by somebody with State Farm and likewise, excellent service.

You got that right. When I moved back to Delaware I shopped around and Nationwide was much cheaper than Progressive. I even told Progressive I would go with them if they would match Nationwide but they wouldn't budge. Didn't matter I had been a customer since 2001.

Not my insurance carrier, but I like their ads.
Flo rocks. ( but she is just an actress in an ad--I know)
I also like the silly little Gecko for GEICO--not my insurance carrier, either, but cute ads.

I have been with them (Progressive) for about 8 years so far. They have been taking my money just fine, in fact, lately they have been doing an even better job of it. I need to look around again.
