Cost of timing belt change on the Honda CRV
 

OK, ya'll are not going to believe this but I actually carried the wifes Honda CRV to the local Honda dealer for the timing belt change. Change included the cam/crank seals, water pump, timing belt and v-belts (they did it on Sat - service 7:30 am to 3 pm - finished around 2:45 pm). Labor $250, material $225. This is the SECOND time since we have been together (since around 1984) that she has ever had to carry a car somewhere to get work done on it, outside of alignment/tire work, the first time was also a preventive maintenance service covering changing the timing belt/water pump on a 1988 Honda Accord. Anyway, she was pissed about the cost. She said she is never again going to spend $$ on a car unless it is not running. Her key to the E320 will probably come up missing :).

I am going to set a "goal" to learn how to do this service on these types of vehicles (Hondas). I think I have a phobia about working on cars that the engines sit sideways. Can anyone make a good recommendation for a manual for this service? There are none that I can find for a CR-V.

Under $500 for all that?
