Other non-MB toys?
I've had the same disease as everyone else here, too many Mercedes. Lately, I've been drifting away from Mercedes and doing other things. I've had a CJ7 for a long time and love it, but I've started getting into other American stuff lately. They're just so cheap! Alternators for $30. All AC parts for $250. After coughing up $2000 a year on maintenance on the German cars, it's nice to have something that doesn't cost an arm and a leg but still gets me excited. I know I can't be the only one. Got anything cool as a toy outside the Mercedes world?
1965 C20 pickup - was gonna restore it, but probably will sell it to fund progression on the others: 1971 Chevy Suburban 4x4 - runs great, needs little things, very fun to drive - green interior! 1969 Porsche 911S Targa - sold the AMG 16v for this one, worth it: 1986 Jeep CJ7 - actually, still one of my favorites: 2010 BMW 128i Sport - my daily driver, great little car. Not a classic, but certainly a "toy":

Had this '05 Mazda V/6 Sportwagen for about 7 years now and it handles and drives better than the '92 BMW 525 Touring I owned. And nothings broken on it "yet".
Excuse me for the pictures of the Fiat, 7 series and the TownCar, but that was all I could find of the 525T.

X3. I love the hubcaps, too.....gives the wagon a classic look without the bundt wheels. Never like the bundt wheels.
I always liked those Mazda wagons. Very rarely see them, though.

I'd take that old Chevy truck anyday...even thought it's not 4X4. My daughter is wanting me to find one for her and I to restore so that she can drive it.

2 new toys. Orbea bike for me (my commute) and wife's new Outback 3.6. I'll race 'ya Jim B. !!!
In regards to the OP, I was into the old American cars about 15 yrs ago. City living no longer allows for 19ft long Cadillacs and Packards. However, it was a lot less expensive parts and maintenance-wise compared to the MBs, that's for sure.

Love the Minis; I was down to buying one of those or my 128i when I was shopping for my new commuter last year. The 128i won only because it was RWD.

Yep, I recently bought a LWB 69 Chevy C10 and it's kind of fun to drive. The steering reminds of the outrun video game from my youth
I also have a couple of Jensen Interceptors and a Porsche 928S4. All bought in the last 12 months.
