Another show of Israeli integrity

Rachel Corrie death: Israel rejects all blame - Telegraph

and they wonder why Hamas lobs whatever they can at them. Colonialism at it's worst.

I eagerly await the day that our country distances itself from the Israeli's.

Support the Boycott Divestment Sanctions Movement.

Guess the people who went to Spain to fight against Franco, or joined the R.A.F. to fight the Germans in 1939 were "stupid" as well.

Look, I'm far from what would be called an Israel supporter, but from all accounts she climbed onto a pile of rubble being actively moved by a bulldozer. She had to know that this was a risky activity. Visibility is poor on a dozer of that size, certainly for the area immediately in front, and with the add-on armor and bullet resistant glass, I can only imagine that it got worse. She took her life in her own hands.

Spdrun, I'm not saying any of these individuals are stupid. They believed in, fought for, and in some cases, died for a cause. It's a choice they made, and I completely support their right to make that choice. But once you make the choice, and commit yourself to this sort of activity, you must accept the consequences.

This case seems likely to have been an unfortunate accident caused by the victim climbing in front of a moving dozer.

And if this same incident had of happened in Iran..or Pakistan..or perhaps Afghanistan?

I am quite sure the typical American response would not be one of..'Oh, death by mis-adventure for sure'.

I can't speak for anyone else, but for me, yeah... Anywhere in the world that an individual chooses to climb onto a pile of rubble being pushed by a bulldozer, and ends up being hurt/killed/maimed by the bulldozer, I'm going to feel like they took their chances, and lost.

Again, I support their choice to take those type of chances, and may even share thier cause, I may even feel that there are causes worth giving my life for... But getting run over by a bulldozer that you climbed in front of?

While all of that may be true...if this incident had of occured in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran...you can be sure that some drones or 2,000 lb. bombs would be headed their way.

That is my point.

Agreed. Operating machines of that type is a dangerous activity to begin with. Even the operator can get himself seriously hurt or killed if he doesn't know what the hell he's doing. That was my father's occupation for well nigh 30 years, operating heavy earth moving machinery, and he had his share of horror stories about what happened to others that showed even a moment's carelessness.

But to crawl on top of a pile of moving shifting rubble being pushed by one of these machines, and who's operator is intent on safely performing the job at hand, rather than some loony-tune trying to make a political point?

My vote for the winner of the annual Darwin Awards.

And the acronymn for that would be - BDSM?

If they go with that, they might end up getting more supporters than they ever dreamed possible - albeit for an entirely different reason!

I think you are underestimating the common sense of mankind. Her particular cause had nothing to do with how people would view her stupid action.

And you have some evidence that she 'crawled on top of a pile of moving shifting rubble'?
The way I read the story, she was standing on an elevated piece of undisturbed ground in clear view of the operator.

Here's a picture taken just before she was deliberately dozed over.

Seems like a pretty good line of sight from operator to fluorescent orange jacket wearing protester.

Operator would have been tried and convicted of murder or manslaughter in this country.
