It's Mac. What's with all the extra caplock usage? And he knows full well that if the computers he lost were Pee-sees, they'da been doorstops well before 10 years of age anyhow and not still busily hard at work.

Too bad about your bust-in CLK. Hope the insurance thing goes well and you catch the miscreants.

Something like that happened here in Pa. Got some kids. Check with Policia.

My auto insurance co. was bought out recently and they were going to "non-renew" me after paying them for years with no claims, and boy am I glad they did. I've got a new policy now more coverage, and will save a couple hundred dollars over the old company this year.

Another great member here suggested that I check CL and ebay. I did a search for a 100 mile radius. Nothing came up.

Its the service tag and serial number of the computer. That can be tracked when the unit is online. Look into it.

I found this:

Quote:
BERKELEY HEIGHTS -- If you’re going to keep a stolen computer, don’t use it to update your Facebook status.
Police in Berkeley Heights used computer tracking software and Facebook to track a computer stolen in a burglary there to Passaic. In March, a Dell laptop computer valued at $1,272 was stolen from a home on Ridge Drive in Berkeley Heights, according to Sgt. Frank Fortunato, the department’s spokesman.
Police notified employees at Computrace LoJack for Laptops.
The computer stayed dormant until late September, when police began receiving signals that Computrace LoJack had identified a location, the residence of Dayron Johnson, 35, in Passaic.
“We were able to see that he was logging onto his Facebook page and AOL screen name,” said Detective Sgt. Michael Mathis, of the Berkeley Heights Police Department.
Mathis said there was nothing incriminating written on Johnson’s Facebook page, but investigators took the information to the Union County Prosecutor and obtained a warrant.

here is what concerns me. The Macs were older and have the last 15 years of work on them. What I don't understand is why would anyone want two 10+ year old computers. I put the word on the street that I would pay $500 for the computers back no questions asked.

Another thing I'm concerned with is that just last week I made a claim with the Ins. co. for a robbery that was an inside job by my daughter and her boyfriend. And here I am making another claim a week later. I suspect that my Ins. Co. will drop me after this, even though I made NO claims since i started with them 15 years ago.
Time for a burglar alarm system that ties into a monitoring company, like ADT. Perhaps your digital printer is too big to easily steal, but I'm sure it's not too big to vandalize. Might make your insurance company happy as well.

Do not only search also post an ad that you're looking for a computer similar to the one that's stolen from you. Don't make an ad for the same computer but something similar. For example that you buy old computer equipment of any age.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune.
I would worry about the NEXT break-in. After the thieves allow you enough time to replace those 15 year old Macs with something newer. I have heard of thieves who steal a car battery, then return a few days later to get the new battery. Maybe the same thing applies here.
