How were they messing with him? He was in violation of agreements he agreed to and city rules.

Well nobody states that you have to be balanced to be a radioligist. Wonder what transpired that his licence was not renewed in 2008? May have just been retirement.

This individual was well out of balance apparently. Maybe previous earlier symptoms were ignored by family. Or from a cultural standpoint they could not really get involved. .

Well there is little doubt that he will be approached about his driveway issue anymore. He seems to have solved that issue. If you live in an ethnic mixing pot abnormalities can result just from cultural issues and differances.

As an earlier poster mentioned it had to happen somewhere.

I don't understand why people are so f**king rock-dumb as to buy a detached house in an HOA-infested community, and then whine or lash out when the HOA goes all petty strutting fascist pig on them.

HOAs are needed for condo buildings where the common structure needs to be maintained. And for nothing else, IMHO.

Though interestingly, I part-own a non-condo (fee-simple) row house with common walls touching other houses, so maybe even the above is untrue.

Why do people support the court system when it agrees with them but decry it when it doesn't? same thing. They want the niceness the HOA provides but scream when they have to comply. In this case, it isn't just the HOA but the city so whose fault is that?

I've lived in HOA run communities that provide amenities like club houses, swimming pools, groundskeeping, etc. and enforcement of CC&Rs whick was part of the decision making to buy there. Different strokes, baby.

i like the concept of a hoa as far as having a nice clean neighborhood goes, but when they take it too far, thats the reason i wont live in one. my in laws house is in an hoa, painted with approved colors and everything. two years ago, the hoa decided it was time they paint their house, not because it was the wrong color or in bad shape, but because the hoa felt it was time. thats the kind of **** that keeps me from even considering living in one.

The homeowner's association bylaws, posted on its website, include restrictions on the height, type and placement of fences; grass-cutting regulations (not to exceed 6 inches); and a requirement that every house have at least a two-car garage.

What a bunch of effing MORONS!

And they LOVE to enforce this crap. They will fine you a lot of money and even threaten to put a lien on your house and sell it if you don't pay, for violations like this.

Most associations don't have a choice regarding enforcement of a CC&R; if they don't enforce, they can be held responsible for failing to enforce. All homeowners (and renters) in an HOA community agreed, by contract, to be bound by the terms and conditions of the CC&R, including the penalties.

No doubt, there are some HOA's that allow personalities, politics and vindictiveness into their decision making, as with any human run organization, but for the most part, they are the minority.

Well, if you don't mind my building a wood hut next to your house and leaving the place a mess which brings down your value, you were free to live somewhere else. If you agreed to be bound by the covenants, and I assume you were given a copy to sign, where is the issue? I lived in a HOA area and am living there now without issue. OTOH, Dad is trying to sell his house and the neighbor's eyesore is bringing down his value.

As to the violations, what is it you suggest? Send you a "please pay or we will get angry" letter?
