I Guess National Security Ranks After Golf

It is evident that your wonderful President is not too keen on security briefings these days. I wouldn't give you fifteen cents for GW, but AT LEAST he insisted on his daily security briefing SIX days a week.

I wonder who might have the statistics on B.O.'s golf score over the past four years. I fully expect that it has improved during that time. Practice makes perfect.

The first link below goes over the fact that B.O. has only made 44% of his security briefings in the last couple of years. The second link, about a half dozen paragraphs down indicates GW's total insistent on daily briefings.

Probably the most entertaining part of this whole thing was hearing Carney's spin for the whole thing. I really feel sorry for this guy, having to daily cover up piles of chit.

GW went on vacation a lot more than any other president, including Obama.

If I allowed September 11 on my watch, I probably would attend daily security briefings as well. Nothing like closing the barn door after the horse has been let out.

From the perspective of the American people, we ALL had a vacation on those days.

Hmmm..... I thought the subject was security briefings? Trying to throw in a Non Sequitor there Tom?

Since you mention it though, most all of GW's "vacations" were on his place in Texas and he still insisted on the daily security briefing rather than a round of golf. I don't begrudge any president vacations, especially since they ALL work quite a bit during their vacation, wherever they might be. Besides, B.O. doesn't need vacations. When you get in so much golf time whenever you want, who needs a vacation?

The title of the thread references golf. Look it up (at the top of the page), it may jog your memory.

On August 6, 2001, President Bush received a daily briefing containing a CIA article entitled "Bin Laden Determined to Strike US". It certainly galvanized him into action...on September 12th...You should read a book called "Against all Enemies" by Richard Clarke to see how Bush disregarded repeated warnings about al-Qaeda during the first nine months of 2001.

I'm going with GWB couldn't remember much from day to day and needed his handlers to remind him what was going on every morning.

Probably a lousy golfer too.

Interesting that in the article you linked, the writer came to a different conclusion than every named source he spoke to.

And, do you really want to start comparing GWB's record of security/military accomplishments to Obama's??

Are there people who attend those meetings that are not entirely to be trusted with information about the covert ops which Obama has been running quite successfully??
Wouldn't doubt for a second that there are partisans in the military who would see targets escape and even put our soldiers at risk in order to make Obama look bad.

During 2011 and the first half of 2012, his attendance became even less frequent — falling to just over 38 percent. By contrast, Obama’s predecessor, George W. Bush almost never missed his daily intelligence meeting.
I guess I have to give the man an "A" for effort. Now what? As you said, you wouldn't give $0.15 for Bush. So what's the point? I studied 5 hrs a day but if the result is I made a poor grade, WGAS?

You make a very valid point, but for me, it goes toward attitude.

It sounds as if Obama has lost your vote.

It's telling that even the president's detractors can't stay on message about the economy.
