Why doesn't Ron Paul get anymore respect than he does

It seems he was practically ignored during the earlier part of the elections. From my simple minded viewpoint he seems to be the only one that seems to make any sense when he speaks. It is obvious that the R establishment does not like him. Only reason I can figure is because he speaks the truth.

Is the education system of the US producing a lower IQ graduate that can't see through all the bs that the news media puts out on a daily basis? Maybe that is part of some of the federally mandated schooling rules that there shall be no thinking outside the box or dumbing em down if you will. Is the kool aide flowing so freely that the folks are drowning? I guess to the average American it is more important what L Lohan and Charlie Sheen are doing this week or who is coming up on the next Survivor.

Ron Paul speaks to fauxnews

On a side note it looks like the War on Oversized drinks is getting started in NY. What is going to keep a person that is going to drink a lot of Coke from purchasing two?

I would be voting for him on a third party ticket; if I could AND if he had a chance, and If there is ever a third party that has a chance of doing something besides splitting the vote, I hope it's him or someone like him.

Ron Paul as a third party would get my vote. He needs to be at the debates calling out bs when he sees it.

Or, maybe another way to look at it is:
He's getting all the respect his opinions warrant.
Personally, I think he's a little loopy. His 2012 debate performances were unimpressive, imo.

I was not that impressed with him in regards to the debate either.

Yes, personally he comes off loopy. It's his views and opinions that get peoples attention since it's something different than the mainstream parties that have everything so fawked up.

I think he's more than a little loopy, but I voted for him in the FL primary when I had the chance. He has an idea or three that is at least worthy of discussion, and I am hoping different ideas on how to get us out of the doldrums are surfaced. Like my late ex-neighbor (died at 100) used to say "There's not a dime's difference between the two parties"

I think there is difference in the parties PLATFORMS, but niether of them ever stick to their platforms anyway. It's like each party is the other parties accomplice.

As far as the individual politicians goals, both parties politicians have the same goal. All of them have one high priority goal, and that is to get elected again. Virtually any of them are quick and happy to sell us all down the river as long as they are able to win the next election.

Mr. Paul got more attention from the GOP snubbing than he would have had they not tried to ignore his campaign.

If the 911 truthers didn't love him so much maybe he might be worth half a consideration.

In answer to the op....he looks funny, he sounds funny and his viewpoints on international affairs have been proven inoperable.

When I was young and idealistic I voted for third parties as a protest from time to time.

Now I object to throwing my vote away on candidates who cannot win.

In national elections Indiana goes republican so often my votes on that level are usually wasted....though I voted for Richard Lugar many times.

I just don't understand that attitude.

You're saying your vote is wasted unless the guy you voted for won?

So in the end, it's all just about winning?

Why even bother then?

I think his biggest problem was the lot of simplistic statements made about foreign policy. It is a complex and touchy thing, to be done based on the current situation at the very moment.
He alienated a lot of people with that, while we were busy trying to increase our popularity with the rest of the world, and many judged him as loopy.
In reality, I think he would have taken the more diplomatic approach with input from experienced ambassadors and such.

I share your theory about third parties although, I THINK we might vote for different alternatives.

I don't want to put words in Tom's mouth, but I THINK he meant that he did not want to waste his vote on a third party that could not win, in effect splitting the vote. I don't think he is saying that his vote is wasted unless his guy wins. Tom's way too smart to sit at home and not vote even when he thinks his guy won't win.
