92 300E Sportline, RED, how rare?

Not sure if I posted this here before or not, so excuse if I did.

I have a 1992 300E Sportline, that is 2-tone Red. I live in Atlanta, and have never seen another one in the 6 years that I have owned it. Anyone have an idea how I can find out how rare this car is? How many produced? Just curious....

Very rare indeed... I have only seen 2 W124 with Sportline in Vancouver, BC.... as most of the ppl are not aware of Sportline back then.... I doubt you will have an easy time finding another factory build Sportline equipped W124....

I've only seen one. Ironically, a 93 gold/bronze parked next to my (red) 93 300E at the swimming facility where my daughter takes lessons.

Another irony is that the owner's daughter was in the same swim class as my daughter!

I never talked to her about the car, and I would guess she really doesn't know what she has! :(

Red 300E Sportline? No. Red 500E? Yes.

Here in ATL, I've seen a white 4-door 300E Sportline (1993, I think) a few years back, and I know of a '93 300CE Sportline (silver) with really low miles...about 30K.

Genuine Sportline cars are real tough to find:(

Actually, I see '92 Sportlines fairly often here in Atlanta (usually White or Black). The small dealer where I service mine occasionally has one on the lot for sale. But, NEVER a RED one.

Any 124 in red is rare, especially with the contrasting lower cladding.... I love that look, from 1990-1993, they had contrasting colored bottoms, and most people painted the cladding to match the body. Any Sportline is rare, especially the aformentioned red car...

Red Sportline

I have a Signal Red 1993 300E Sportline. It's in Kansas and it doesn't get out often. I've seen only one other Sportline in the U.S. (a red 300CE), but have seen several in Europe. The combination of the red color and lowered stance is an eye catcher.

My in-laws were supposed to buy a silver 300E Sportline from the local dealership back in '92. The dealership was so friendly that they thot it would be a good idea if I borrowed the car for the weekend. So...I took it to Atlanta and took another couple out for dinner. We had a ball in that car. My eyes were openned to how amazingly smooth +100mph could feel cruising down I-75. When my inlaws came to pick up the car from the dealership, there was a coffee spill in the console and that turned them off and they passed it up. Too bad. Would loved to have had that around. Haven't ever seen one since.

I haven't seen any Sportline 300e cars around here. I've heard they are more common than the Sportline 190e, though. It would be interesting to know production numbers, if we could ever get our hands on them. At any rate, enjoy! I do.
