Check yourself, guys

I have the pleasure of going to an oncologist next week...because I had not been paying attention to myself.

A few weeks ago, while showering, by wife was in the room with me, so we could talk about a few things without being in front of the kids. As I was toweling off, my wife noticed a lump in my nether regions...in my sac, to be exact. After a bit of feeling, we decided that I had either grown a third testicle, or there was something wrong.

I went to a urologist, who sent me to radiology for an ultrasound...they found a mass that they think may be cancerous.

I'm more than scared, I'm terrified that it is cancer. Luckily, the survival rate of testicular cancer is very high...if that is what it is. My appointment is on Tuesday, and I should know within a week or so if that is what it is.

Guys...check yourselves. Feel around for odd lumps...don't put it off.

Good luck, JP. I'll keep you in my prayers. And while it may not be cancer, even if it is that's one of the best survival rates and is far more easily treated with fewer side effects. (And no, your voice won't go up, no matter what.)

Good sugggestion for people to self check or get the wife or girl friend to do it. Even though I knew this I seldom really check. Should feel like smooth firm grapes in there. I do a self check or exam perhaps once a year on average.

Best of luck. You are still a little young but life indeed seems to be just one thing after another at times. Nature does equip us with two testicles so we can function well with just one if it comes to it is the upside. More importantly still it is of a very curable type.

I do not know how many other members out there have dealt with issues that may be cancer.Unfortunatly statistical wise a lot still will. I was there about twelve years ago. You almost have to have been there to really get a grasp on how it effects you. Also those around you and others you know.

Best of circumstance and I only hope for the best outcome for you. You have much better odds than what I had with the location of my cancer. You have to appreciate that to some extent. It is still not too much of a reach to say I know how you feel in general.

An acquaintance of mine was diagnosed over 30 years ago. He received treatment and is still going strong today.

My Dog JP, you ARE a young one...

My lil' brudder (52 this past April) just got done have a cancerous melanomanoid (4mm. x 2mm.) carved off the inside of his left thigh...close enough to the "kids" that he had to "cover up" to show the rest of us the site of confrontation.

Then there was the follow-up "sparkle-dye" job they did and they had found that he had some "sparklers" in the lymph-nodes in his groinal region...those puppies were removed about a week or so later.

Following another full-body "sparkle-dye" job, he's doesn't have any more "sparklers" in his system, but they're doing the chemo-route on him anyways to be sure the melanoma is being exorcized from his personage...just to be sure.

I'm not going to say I envy you, but I do, sincerely, wish you the best of luck in what you're about to undergo.

"Hang" in the dude...

JP--wish you only the best.

But don't stop there. get that colonoscopy . No one really likes it ( well maybe some do..... ) Not me. I've had a few, and another coming up soon.

Oh, and get your PSA count done for sure. Its a simple (painless) blood test.

Very best of luck with it JP! In today's medical world they can fix zillions of things that they couldn't do anything with not that long ago, so it will most likely all work out.

Also, it was very thoughtful of you to pass the warning along to the rest of us. Maybe it will give someone earlier detection.

My deepest thoughts and prayers are with you!

Best wishes for a speedy and positive resolution. They'll give you a complete workup of course, but get that colonoscopy too. Nothing easier and great reassurance.

I’m sorry that you will go through this, but you’ll be okay. It's among the most curable forms of cancer.

My sis went through cancer treatment a year ago. She did great as she, like you, caught it before feeling any malady. Try and be positive as it makes a world of difference when going through this kind of process.

Definitely continue with your refinishing project and other typical activities, and don’t start sitting around feeling bad about yourself. It can start a tail spin.
