A good friend works for NASA at Kennedy. He sent me these UCAP pics this week. I was a bit shocked how rough the shuttle looks up close.

I missed it fly over my house the other day when it went over Disney World.

I really hope they do not scrap the transport 747 and instead preserve it.

I think that the transport plane should be on display WITH the shuttle mated!!!!!!!! There are other displays of the shuttle by itself.

I did a little googling yesterday and if I remember the numbers correctly, it carries something like 47,000 gallons of fuel for a 1,000 mile range. 47 gallons per mile? Max Gross weight, mated is 713,000 pounds!

Yes, John Kennedy is rolling over in his grave.

You try going into space and then gliding back through the atmosphere a few times and let's see how you look.

According to wiki, Endeavour traveled a total of 122,883,151 miles. Heck, some of you guys have cars with more miles on the clock. You guys should design a grill badge for the old girl pronto.

Good reading here: Space Shuttle Endeavour - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yes, I expect it's like a well used race car. I've seen a few here and there that had seen lots of service and they looked as if they had been to hell and back.

Lots of warbirds on static display look like this. Makes sense though, they're not going to give up their low time pristine airframes for static display. Only the worn out, shot up, beat up ones make it to that honor.

Yeah, Endeavour certainly deserves a Million Kilometer Grill Badge!
