On Sunday Feb. 24 I attend a autocross put on by MBCA Tampa Section.
It was a blast, the event was originlly scheduled for Saturday, so on saturday approx. 30-40 cars showed up for the autocross but due to heave rain the event was moved to Sunday. On Sunday only about 20 cars showed up which is really a sham for those who came the day before.
The event consisted of a acceleration run and autocross.
I placed 3 in the acceleration only behind a SLK32 and SL600. In the autocross I came in second only to a E320 w/ slicks and one hell of a driver. (This is only and assumption after looking at the times that I had seen, I will get the official results in the mail soon). I thought that a SLK32 would beet me but the driver was not that great, and she keept going off course (that was just a simple mix up of the cones).
The event was held at an airport and during the event people were skydiving and planes were taking off and landing the whole time. It was quite a site to see cars racing and skydivers all at the same time.

Thats me again waiting, you can see the SL600 and an 140 S420 behind me.

This is my dad taking a lap in his SLK32, he took it easy and did not go above 3000 rpm because the car is still being broken in (only 700 miles). He still did very well and would have beet everyone if the car was broken in.

As you can see here we let a plane take its shot at the course. No, I dont know what happend here I guess he got confused as to where to land. I looked up and saw a plane on the course I did not know what was happening.

Some more cars, 300E, 300E, SLK230, a beautiful early 70s CE (sorry dont remember the modle #) I do know that it was a 6 cylinder, and a SLK230, the car in the back is the E320 w/ slicks.

The event was a blast. I have some vids I took w/ the dig camera, I dont know how long they will be up so If you want to see do so fast.

You will need to open them in Windows Media Player. I dont think that I am really gunning it in these runs, but you sure do get your heart pumping during autocross.
Now I want to get slicks.
