Microfiche

So I just bought a full set of MB manuals for pretty much every car built between 1973-1991 on Microfiche on eBay for a song and a dance.

Only problem was that I had no microfiche reader so I picked one of those up yesterday. I had to buy it along with a full set of Volvo parts manuals for the 200, 700 and 900 Series (the big RWD ones).

It's pretty neat but the jury is still out on how usable it will be.

If anyone has a volvo and a mircofiche reader, let me know. I can cut you a heck a deal as it's not going to be likely that I'll be getting one of those old tractors anytime soon.

I think I would get pissed if I had to use a microfiche. I used one to look up old car magazine reviews and it was a pain.

My Mercedes guru has a sweet microfiche reader and he has all of the manuals going back to I think the 60's

as to the 740 microfiche you want to sell

I think you can sell it on The Volvo Resource: brickboard.com

I was active there because of our 1991 740 sedan, until after about 2004 when my wife forced me to let it go so she could have a new Accord.

As awkward as microfiche is, it was the state of the art 30 years ago.

Ha! I had a Volvo 740 wagon back in 2004 which I bought from a Walmart parking lot in Alpharetta GA. The owner wanted $2500, I offered $1400 which he turned down. He then called me on the following morning after Walmart told him that they were going to tow it.

I used it to keep the miles on my then fairly newish E420.

It had 250k miles on it and I beat 7 bells of cr*p out of that it for another 30k miles before selling it to a friend who still drives it.

Who knows? an old 240 or 740 Wagon may make a better pickup truck then the 69 Chevy pickup that I have now.
