You would have to have it to lose it. Or that is my excuse. Resale seems high and fairly cheap to buy. For the last five years or so deals on new half ton trucks do not sound that bad. Ford has gotten better as well I suspect. Low depreciation seems to be a factor of our times with them. Not logical to me but it is what it is. Same rule applies to some brands of cars out there. A guy could do worse.

Sierra 2500HD, with a Duramax and 4WD. Going with a GMC over a Ford and a Dodge, as it has a nicer interior and this is going to be my daily driver. Unfortunately, a 2500 is the smallest truck I can get that has a diesel, so its going to be a 2500HD with a crew cab. 4WD, as well, all trucks should have 4WD!

Seems that my lifestyle has been changing quite a bit recently. I want something with a bed that I can put tools/lumber into, ATVs, dirt bikes, etc... My ML isnt bad when you put a trailer on it, but grabbing a trailer every time I need to move something large is getting old, quickly.

You'll end up hauling 1500 lbs of crushed stone around just because you like the way it improves the ride.

Actually like the way that they ride. Quite a bit better than my overly bumpy E55 when it was in DC Sport II.

Ideally, I would get white. But, wouldn't turn down a charcoal grey, green, blue or silver truck. No black!

Typhoon? What a POS. My BIL (who IMHO is a utter DA) traded a 93 Ford Powerstroke even for a used '92 GMC Typhoon.

Black. No factory A/C. In NC. With a globbed-on aftermarket intercooler.

AFTER I'd offered to help him fix all the issues with the Powerstroke for FREE.

Like I said, complete DA. And the vehicle is a POS. Brake fluid (which he still hasn't changed out) is the same color as the ENGINE OIL in my 300D.

I hate in-laws.

Do you get better fuel milage or simular with some gas engines now? If your intent is not to do heavy hauling why the diesel?

Actually, the diesel seem to get the same, if not better fuel mileage than their gas counterparts. I'm shopping for a used truck, and it seems that after depreciation has set in, there is not a big gap in price between a similar diesel and gas truck. So in my case, why not get a diesel?

The smallest truck I can get with a diesel is a 3/4 ton, which is why I am going with a 2500HD.

I expect the Diesel to get better MPG's

I do not expect it to cost the same.

Maybe GM stuff is different.

Running empty, I would expect similar mpg in the real world. Heavily loaded, I would expect the diesel to show better mpg as well as being quicker to get to speed.
