Thanks for the long-winded explanation -- fair enough, but I got a very different vibe from your original post.

There are a certain number of people who'll pretend to be interested, then give wrong contact info. Happened to me, has happened to friends of mine. Pointless and obnoxious.

As far as giving my number, I've exchanged numbers before, not called immediately due to being busy, and then got crap when I ran into the woman again. "Why didn't you call me?" Well, why didn't you? Being female doesn't make you unable to dial a phone!

Not baffled. Irritated by women who act stupid. Example: I was talking to a friend from Westchester the other day. She got invited to hang out with a guy and a few friends in the city, but she was arguing with herself about what to text him, since she didn't want to "seem desperate" by "going all the way into NYC." How about "yes, sure, meet you there at x time?" Why so complicated?

Guess I was guided by stereotypes about why certain types of people behave in certain ways in certain situations without really asking one what's going on there... doh.

And yeah, I have no idea why some people are jerks about phoning/phone numbers. But there's a special ring of hell reserved for them where they get awesome dates and then someone throws fish guts on them right before their date turns the corner. And dude, you should have words with your friend and tell her she's overthinking it.

You almost have to have a well developed sense of humour to get through this world. When dealing with the ladies get them involved. When I was young I used to get them into some of my projects. They usually like challenges. It does not have to lead to other things either. But a percentage can..

We also project our dispositions etc as they pick up emotional components and related things about us very quickly.

Get a dog as this enables them to examine you through their interest in the dog. In the real world I am not quite sure who picks up who. Hitting on women in stores seems a little strange to me.

Women have asked me questions in building supply type stores as well for example.Still do at my advanced age. I do not equate them with anything other than information seeking or just random social interaction.

Over my lifetime they in general have felt comforatable around me and still do. I really would not want them to feel otherwise. Humour goes a long way in this world. Unfortunatly not all people spontainiously posess and use it.

I understand your fears--at least a little. Too often, IMO, people try to manipulate others instead of being honest and letting things develop, or not. Too much of a hurry. Meet, hook up for sex and say good by all in a few hours is ridiculous and demeans everyone involved.

In my health, no...I was recently told by the team of doctors at UPMC that my lack of ability to balance has been caused by years of abuse by my chosen trade and hobbies, and that there isn't much more they can do for me.

Seriously though, great wife, great kids and wonderful grandkids I will be getting my 12th grandchild on thursday A little girl to make six of them and six grandsons
