Posse comitatus? Really?
Why, because they're going to use some MPs?

What they ought to do is cordon off the area around where the game is being played, evacuate the locals, and then when the fans pour out let them beat each other all they want and thereby improve the gene pool.

You cannot spell whimp without MP ... drunk college kids vs. military police ... hmmm. In the last 2-3 months, there has been a huge surge of "real crime", e.g., violent crime at Five Points (one of the major college hang outs) which is in the heart of the USC mega complex So, what does our illustrious police agencies do? Get more cops in that neck of the woods to hand out traffic tickets. Any arrests for the real problem ? Nope, not one. So, will the military police help ? Highly unlikely and just another waste of tax payers' dollars. My .02 Cents.

Yeah?

You like petulant-looking brunettes?

Well, if it's a boy, then name it after ME.

... and enjoy the alimony payments you'll make for the next 18 years.

those were not MPs. It was an Ohio National Guard Infantry Unit. All NG troops are trained in civil disturbance. As they are state troops until federalized, they are under control of the govenor, who was rsponding to city and university officials trying to calm the rioting of all the ape**** students...

Companies A and C, 1/145th Infantry and Troop G of the 2/107th Armored Cavalry, Ohio Army National Guard (ARNG) were the units dispersing the illegal protestors that day.

Comparing a Regular(full-time active duty) MP to a Guardsman is like comparing a German Shephard to a Labsaobsa.

Been there - full-time - active duty infantry. During my time in the military, I saw no more visicious a person than an MP.

Either case - Regular - National Guard - makes no difference. I do not want armed military people overseeing civilian crowds.

That's what the local police are for.

The one exception would be intervention during/following some sort of foreign invasion.

Depends what they're doing. I'd be fine with using them as unarmed "rent-a-cops" for traffic control or whatnot. But they shouldn't be patrolling armed in the place of sworn officers.
