No more soda... Is a kurig the answer?

Well, with my 3-4 can a day habit of soda and the occasional energy drink out the window thanks to a few hours in a dental chair fixing 4 cavities, I need to break some caffeine withdraw. Im not a coffee guy, at all. Never have been. I'm just looking for a quick drink of something caffeinated, and I think with the amount I've spend on my deductible for insurance, I can go ahead and buy a kurig.

Is there something better for single serve coffee maker?

Looks like there are about 1000 choices of "k cups" out there. Are any of them decent for someone looking for something caffeinated and sweet?

Is there a better answer for a caffeine addict looking to save their teeth? I'm brushing more frequently, but I will need to change my drink of choice to something easier on the teeth then soda.

Thank you
~Nate

buy a bottle of generic no thrills no doze. They have 100mg of caffeine which is about a cup of java or a can of coke. A lot cheaper too.

K cups suck

The Keuring system is a compromise at best. I use the Bunn My Cafe single pod brewer. Instead of a K cup you have coffee in a filter pod that allows the water to pass through the coffee to make a better cup of coffee.

You can buy pods from a number of sellers or make your own with a Perfect Pod press and empty filter pods using what ever coffee blend you like. I order 2 lb bags from Community coffee of New Orleans and lso get different grinds locally. That way I can have a selection of decaf, regular, dark and rocket fuel depending on what I want/need.

The addition is the pods are biodegradeable and make for good compost material whereas the K Cups plastic is landfill material.

The Bunn machine is $100 or so on line aand the pods can run from $9 for 18 pods and up (Kona coffee is $18 per box) and some markets sell them locally.

Although I do find K cups to be wasteful and they aren't cheap, it is convenient for a single cup. Ours has a reusable insert that you can fill with your own coffee for better coffee, less money and less expense.

Since you're not a coffee drinker, why not go with tea instead for your caffeine fix?

Seems to me you need to find something without the sugar to help avoid the dental problems you have.

instead of a caffeinated beverage try an apple.

I do not drink tea, coffee, soda, or any form of energy drink and I am up every day at 8am and in bed by 10 or 11pm. I do not take naps or ever really feel tired. It must be something in the water

Up at 5:30a, bed at 10:30p. It must be the 8 cups of coffee.

5 Hour Energy if all you want is the buzz. No sugar and it's only about an ounce or two in a little bottle. You want sweet coffee you're going to get a ton of sugar. Besides, I got curious about those single cup brewers and when I calc'd out the per pound price of that coffee it made me a little nauseous, especially when you have to pay thru the nose to get the machine as well. Never mind the ridiculous amount of packaging to throw away or recycle.

Again: what's wrong with an old-fashioned coffee pot and some good coffee? If you get a good coffeemaker or a Bodum, the filter is washable and reusable, so no waste.

Drink with a straw.

I can't give it up, and I hate hot drinks.

Even if you consume diet soda, you are at risk of tooth damage.

From the internet:

"Soda contains acid that etches away at tooth enamel, leaving you vulnerable for cavities. The acid takes just about 20 minutes to start dissolving tooth enamel. Dark colored soda can also stain your teeth."
