Arby’s Manager Fired After Escaping Armed Robbery

An Arby's employee named Maria Archer is grateful to have escaped last Friday, when a man attempted to rob the restaurant where she worked. Archer, who was an assistant manager, said she was doing the closing duties at around 1 a.m. when she heard the doorbell ring. She assumed it was her co-worker who had just left and went to answer the door. To her surprise, it was a man with a knife, who tried to push her into a corner. Archer's instincts kicked in, and somehow she was able to push the man away and give herself enough time to escape through the drive-through window. She recalled thinking, "I'm not going to die at Arby's tonight. I'm just not."

Here's where things get interesting. When Archer returned to work, she was fired. Archer told a local TV station, "I just never thought this would happen to me. Especially since my life was at stake." Arby's defended its decision, saying that violations of its safety and security policy mean termination of employment without exception. Archer broke policy because she was alone in the fast-food business when it was robbed.

I'm adding Arbys to my no shopping list. They will never see a dime of my money again.

They are already out of business in the town where I live.

I found this unbelievable, but was told that the workers in the place deliberately fed customers spoiled and rotten beef. And the person that told me is a native born long time resident of the town and a friend of mine and who is dialed into local things far more than I am, and he had no reason to tell me an untruth....

Customers got sick, and the culprits got caught.

It is hard to believe, but I guess it must be true. After about a year of the building being empty, Starbucks moved in.

Starbucks. Arbys. Sounds like you traded garbage for garbage. I have to say I smile every time the "black bloc anarchists" trash a crap-food establishment.

I always thought Arbys stuff tasted kind of weird. Roy Rogers roast beef sandwiches always tasted like decent beef. The few times I ever tried Arbys the beef was almost or completely inedible, and that was back when I was a hungry teen earning my own way, and reluctant to waste any food.

Haven't eaten at an Arby's since seeing their "beef loaf" cryopacks being opened in a restaurant supply magazine article long ago. They are to beef, what McNuggets were to chicken.

Not hardly. Plenty of privately owned business to eat at on occasion.

That sounds typical for a big retail company. Typically they treat employees like disposable drones.

If you are going to talk about that article, why not qoute the entire article instead of cherry picking bits and pieces?

She was warned PREVIOUSLY about violating the company safety policy. They insist 2 people be there at any one time. So can someone explain what Arby's did wrong? Besides not seeing if 3rd time would be lucky when this girl violates the policy YET AGAIN?
