Oregon scientists make embryos with 2 women, 1 man
NEW YORK (AP) — Scientists in Oregon have created embryos with genes from one man and two women, using a provocative technique that could someday be used to prevent babies from inheriting certain rare incurable diseases. The researchers at Oregon Health & Sciences University said they are not using the embryos to produce children, and it is not clear when or even if this technique will be put to use. But it has already stirred a debate over its risks and ethics in Britain, where scientists did similar work a few years ago. http://news.yahoo.com/oregon-scientists-embryos-2-women-1-man-170407156.html |

Whenever we solve our many screwups with this planet, then we can focus on improving ourselves. There's no point on breeding perfectly healthy people if the world is a dump.

Maybe they'll end up with two embryos, one turning out more or less ok and the other becoming the useless governor of California

Why not? Sounds like a plan to me. Having done a stint as the Asst Mgr of a Ronald McDonnald house and seeing what the parents bring out to this world, I can't say that removing some bad genes are such a bad thing.
So it goes against nature. So what? Screw nature. Nature has given us defects that we have to put up with so why should we worship nature to the extent that some people do? Further to that, EVERY DAY, EVERY HOUR, EVERY MINUTE, EVERY SECOND we are defying nature. Look out there and tell me what you see. Everything from a light to CPR or ACLS training where they jumpstart a dead patient is defying nature. It's just that we are more accepting about it than this. OTOH, I tend to buy a car and mod it till I get what I want so OEM doesn't impress me that much.
