'95 E420 Special Edition

Hi Forum!

I bought my E420 about 2 months ago and I recently received the pink slip in the mail. When I reviewed it I noticed that it states that my E420 is a "special Edition" model.

Does anyone know which one is the 'special edition' model? I looked at the car and it looks like all the other E420 of the same year. Perhaps there is something different mechanically...

If anyone knows...please let me know. The car is a 1995 E420.....

Thanks!

The 'Special Edition' as I understood it Cris, meant that it had option packages not typically found on standard models (though these were commonly avaible options in differing combinations) including: ASR, Rear Sunshade, Heated Seats, CD-Changer, Different Alloy wheels - nothing different performance-wise.

Does yours have any or all of those? I don't think it was anything really unique or telling inside or out (except for the wheels - which could be purchased as separate items from the dealer anyway). I think it was more a marketing ploy than anything.

This is only what I've been able to gather - we'll see if anyone else chimes in

Regards,
- Ryan

Do a search of the archives for special edition. This was discussed in the last year or two.

Cris:

In your case, I believe "special Edition" means the last model year for that chassis. In other words, all 1995 E420 are special Editions.

I could be wrong but I was on the market during that model year and I thought I remembered that.

Same concept as the 2000 C-Class "special edition"....loaded.... as well as having a few cosmetic "upgrades"

All 1995 E420's are not Special Editions.

How would you tell if it is a special edition, or if you just have certain options. I have ASR, heated seats, rear sunshade and Bose soundsystem. One option I don't have is a heated hood star. I was driving through the snow and ice today and after an hour I had quite a bit of ice build up on my hood star. A heater to melt the ice would be make mine a real special edition.

Dear Forum friends,

Many thanks to all of you who replied to my post. It was shed some light on the E420 Special Edition question. I've check the options on my car and found that it only has the cd changer and the polished wheels which I have already replaced with Mille Miglia Bellos 16 X 7.5 with Toyo FZ4 205/55/16 tires.

Pics coming soon !

Look at your door thresholds, you should have metal plates that say Mercedes Benz on them. Others won't have them. Also, I think you will have wipers on your headlights which others won't.

I'm looking for a good 95 E420. How do you like yours? Any problems yet? I've always had diesels so I kinda scared of gas cars with a lot of mileage (100k+). But can't find many diesels, and now I read that the 6 cyl dissel isn't that good anyway.
