Chevy Equinox test drive.
My brother in law was given this as a company vehicle 2 months ago,a 4 cylinder engine that has an advanced economy package, well it drops a cylinder at hwy speed WHEN REQUESTED.His last travel was 120 miles were he avg. 65 mph and performed 38 mpg, not to shappy .Sharp lines and very clean interior with plenty of upfrtont head and leg room.Did I mention my bro-in-law is 6'5".If they would make a mid size pickup with this package Im sure Chevy would be onto something .

GM lifespan
The ECO system might be good but it is still inside a GM POS. The people I know who own Chevy/Buick trade them after 3-4 years because they are falling apart. Interior fit/finish is a joke and parts fall off when you go over a RR crossing (no lie-happened to a co-worker 3 months ago in a Chevy Cruze).
I've given up on USA cars. Chrysler selling old line junk and cheapo Fiat/Alfa's that the Techs still don't know how to fix. Ford is a Techno Joke because the 'Lectrinocs don't hold up past 18 onths or the supposed software/firmware upgrades actually DEGRADE the control system. And do not get me started on MB... |

I hate to admit that I'm not keen on current GMs. The interiors are weird and the steering is soft and boring. Well, I've only driven one - a 2012 rental Impala - but I've sat in several others and the interiors turn me off.

Hmm, the interior on my 2006 GMC is holding together quite well.
Actually, some things have worn better on it than on my E55! Granted, it isn't quite on the same level interior wise as my E55, but it is nice for a pickup.

I should have said Chevy autos. "GM" sounds like I meant trucks. I have no problem with their truck interiors.

I think the US "Big 3" manufacturers have pretty much given up on passenger cars. They often as not rank ded LAST in the car magazine auto comparison tests.
My 2009 Mercury Grand Marquis was the last and newest of them I'll ever buy and the last one ever made was produced on January 4, 2011, and unceremoniously got shunted off to a rental fleet seomewhere. Last Panther platform car was a Police Interceptor I believe about 10 months later on. Even the Lincoln Town Cars are through. No big surprise, Mullaly of Ford seveal yers go suggested Ford ought to ditch all cars and just build trucks and SUVs only. Though the Ford Fusion looks likle decent idea though to me. At the Sacramento Auto show, this year their pickup trucks and SUV's were pretty ritzy looking though. But so were the prices. A nicely equipped pickup truck, Ford/Dodge/Chevy/GMC cost $60,000 MSRP. And a lovely black Cadillac Escalade cost over $83,000. I think you'd have to be in the last stages of tertiary brain syphilis to even *consider* paying THAT kind of money for those things, I don't care WHO you are..
