Preservation is a good thing but I gotta wonder how much of that money lands in bank accounts controlled by well-connected people? Last I heard 90% of "foreign aid" never makes it to anyone that isn't well-connected.

After decades of such scams funded by stolen money that was borrowed in the name of the taxpayers, the interest alone is enough to make us third world.

Remember, this is BORROWED money.

Personally, I find the architecture of religions to be the best part of them.

Save the church, ditch the religion.

Wasteful spending. Maybe when we have the money to do stuff like that we can. It's a drop in the bucket but those drops add up. I'm all for preservation but not if it's in the red...

Jumping over dollars to pick up nickels. Do something that'll make a real difference.

When the mindset is that a 3% Increase is called a cut because they wanted an 8% increase--then all economic reality is lost.

Yup. With politicians and the general public alike.

Yes,those drops ABSOLUTELY add up! The way the politicians look at it, "oh well, a billion here a billion there, what's the difference?"

Pick up the dollars too, but do NOT ignore the nickels, if you can call millions or billions of dollars, nickels.

Problem is that the politicians are only wanting to cut the budget by nickels, but that's the only time they try to make people think they're cutting dollars.

ABSOLUTELY CORRECT! The politicians have been passing off this kind of crappy stuff for YEARS now!

See if you can wrap your head around this. You're Bill Gates (or even Warren Buffett or Charlie Munger, take your pick), and you're walking to a meeting. You'll make it on time, but only if you don't waste time. On your way to the meeting, you see a trail of $100 bills on the ground. Should you pick them up, or ignore them?

Are you unable to scoop up money at the same time you are moving forward? If you can't do that, can you chew gum and walk at the same time? Someone properly motivated can figure out a way to do both. Do Warren and Bill not have lieutenants that can take care of some things for them?

Shame that you never ran for any meaningful office and straightened things out.
