Cops out of control

Along with all the nuts shooting up people all over, the cops in the US have seemed to declared open season on family pets whenever they choose....

I can imagine the NRA may advocate arming Dogs now to solve the problem.

Makes sense. We already have the right to arm bears.

In all seriousness, I hope that family sues the pants off those cops and wins a grotesquely large settlement.

The capability of prevailing with the pants will depend on whether the dog was inside the property line (fenced) or not. I couldn't get a firm answer from the article.

If he was in the yard, and the cops had no warrant, they are, very simply..........toast.

If I had to choose whether to rescue a man, woman, child or a dog from a burning building, unless the woman is my wife, the dog will win every time. I wouldn't risk my life for another person but a dog is different in my book. As to street cops, I have no real use for them and wouldn't bother to call 911 if I saw that a semi had run over them. That said, I'd really like to know more about this story to know what happened.

I know it is a pretty old and silly method but perhaps we could wait for the trial to come out so we know what we are dealing with? That is, unless it might be easier to skip the trial altogether and proceed with the lynching?

Well our dog was neutered just before we picked him up. On the first visit the lady told me he can be somewhat obnoxious. I asked her how and she said you will see. Sure enough he grabbed onto the boys leg with both paws and he could not get him off. The dog is very strong.

On the way home I asked him if he had a name in mind since it was going to be his dog and he said chippo. I simply responded perhaps humphrey would be a more fitting name.

At the same time I told him the habit would be gone once he was neutered. I wonder if one of chippos relatives got a grip on the cop and he shot it.

In all seriousness it is hoped the dog was at least snarling and coming at or attacking the officer. I suspect that will be the case.

It takes a real coward to shoot an animal that wasn't hurting anyone.

Even if it was hurting someone who was in the dog's yard. Dog's job is to protect the home and family....

If the cop came into the yard and got bitten, he should have sucked it up and escaped, knowing that he no longer had to search in that yard for the escapee.

Real chicken5it.

this has been gone over in another thread but the bottom line is this:

IF a police officer feels their life is in danger they have a literal license to kill. Shoot first, ask questions later type thing. So........if you are ever stopped by a cop and during the exchange you hear the cop say something like "I am in fear for my life", chances are he/she is going to reach for their firearm and take care of the threat, perceived or otherwise. After an incident of this type, the cop is placed on paid administrative leave so that they can work out their feelings/emotions about the shooting. Meanwhile, you or your pet may not have the luxury of working out your/their feelings.

Of course it will. At least as well as the officer can remember, in the heat of the chase.

I feel that way too, about the lives of not only my family but my livestock, and I am no policeman.
