Should School Teachers Be Armed With Tazers?

Should School Teachers or other School Personnel be armed with Tazers?

I have not read all of the threads and don't know if anyone has thought of this or not. Arming Teachers with Tazers gives them something that in the event of some sort of Violence gives them a chance to incapacitate an assailant.

At the same time there is no Bullets to go through Walls and Tazers are not likely to Kill someone.

Along with that there is Pepper Spray and Mace.

There have been a number of posters who have suggested non lethal security measures in schools.

I think it is an area which should be explored.

Where's Pooka?? Maybe we need to add this to your thread about the next big thing....

Screw tazers. If some nut job comes into a school looking for trouble he needs to be shot

Needs to be, yes.
If there is a teacher/staff with a gun, hopefully they could do that.
For the teachers/staff who do not wish to carry/hold/be-responsible-for a firearm it could be a plus. Tazer accidents would happen.... but they would be funny.

Hell, if the chips came down, one of the kids would probably grab it and zap hell out of the perp.

I am glad someone else thought of it. I hope someone else in some of the State Governments also think of it.
I guess the best thread to add it to would be the Teachers Armed with Guns thread.
But, when a thread gets too long it becomes daunting to read and some of the more personal arguments make it even longer.

I think the non-lethal Weapons Idea has other merits because Teachers are sometimes assaulted by the Students and some School Districts don't want the Teachers to hit back.

I worked briefly for a School District and the Manager of the School Buss Repair section took a Punch from a Buss Driver who He had told to go Home due to an expired Drivers Permit.
I believe part of the reason He was later promoted was that he took the Punch and did not retaliate thus relieving the School District of any chance of being sued.

To what extent will tazers, guns, hand grenades or crossbows have any meaningful effect on the number of children killed by guns?
Who bears the responsibility for the lawsuits that will result from the inevitable "accidental" tazing of a student?
i smell unintended consequences.

oddly I just though of this (from the 1970s or 1980s). I don't know if they are still around but they used to make Bullets that were essential a Full Jacket filled with Shot Gun Pellets.

Supposedly they would not make it through a typical Dry Wall type Wall.

If they are still arround that would reduce the chance of a stray Bullet going though a Wall and hitting someone.

It also has not been to hard to get Students to follow the "Duck And Cover" type drills that would make them less likely to be hit by a stray Bullet.

Frangibles, or shot shells. Safer, but I wouldn't count on one to save a classroom full of kids. I have 9mm rounds loaded with shot shells. They do a good job on snakes at point blank range, but don't hardly faze raccoons as close as 10ft. Wouldn't have been any use at all in CT. I'd prefer a tazer or even better: bear spray.
