Arkansas Senate to vote on bill to allow guns in church

Arkansas Senate to vote on bill to allow guns in church

I'm confused. A church is a private business, since when is a government permitted to tell a private business what they may or may not allow on their property? Why is there a gun ban in churches to begin with? Would that decision not be up to the owner of the business in the first place?

Since you don't believe in God, and obviously don't agree with owning firearms...what does it matter to you?

David...are you trolling again?

I believe that rights should apply equally to all. So how about providing an answer to the question if you have one.

Have you stopped beating your wife?

Exactly. Who made that law, and at whose request?

I think churches should encourage people to bring weapons.

I do not know about the later, I guess that would be up to them but I am very curious about the former.

As you well know, not any constitutional right is absolute, gentlemen.

If there is a perceived public safety interest, it often supersedes freedom of religion, speech, assembly, and the whole 2nd and 5th Amendments.

But why single out churches. Are there other private businesses which laws like this apply to?

As a matter of fact, I just completed our daily session of beatings.

Do you still drive a white van around the schools with a free candy sign on it?

In my state the concealed carry law specifically proscribed guns in schools, CHURCHES, bars, etc. It has undergone some mods but I am not certain precisely how it is presently worded. I think bars are still out but maybe churches are in? I dunno. If it's important I'll look. I am almost certain it varies by state (as it should).

There's no laws banning firearms in bars in PA...nor churches, if I remember correctly.

The imaginary line surrounding the schools are no-nos, with certain exceptions, and any business can ban firearms from being on property. At least that's how I understand the laws as written in PA

My search is not turning up anything. Seems this type of law is fairly common in the country. There was an article that said the SCOTUS denied an appeal regarding a GA law. I get schools (at least public schools) but I do not get the private business restrictions.

Does anyone know if malls, ball parks, stadiums .... have a restriction like this?

My right to carry before God shall not be infringed.

Fed courts are varied on this and generally prefer to leave it to legislatures and city councils. Thus, most such laws vary by state and municipality. I would argue that's as it should be: Your city and state probably have a different make-up and culture from ine. It is better that the locality and state have flexibility on most laws.

The local mall prohibits open carry of firearms, but cannot stop someone if they have a LTCF (CCW in other states). In PA, it's called a License to Carry Firearms, and allows you to carry concealed. Open carry doesn't require a license.

Basically, if you have a LTCF, you can carry anywhere but public schools and court houses.

Does the mall prohibit it or the city/state? Can the mall prohibit the LTCF on private property?
