I have a friend who wants to start out as a new stockbroker (ahem, Financial Advisor) at Smith Barney. I told him to keep looking for another job unless he can partner up with an existing broker who is about to retire (so he can buy the book).

He plans to do it solo via his own networking and cold calls.

Is the 'do not call' list still enforced? I would think so since I have not gotten any stock pitches from brokers in years.

Do any of you guys still receive cold calls for stocks? last one i got was maybe 5 years ago.
