Yesterday I went to Guatemala City and found the Mercedes-Benz dealership by accident. Interestingly enough, I clocked 150,001 on the clock as soon as I pulled into their parking lot.

They had this FACTORY armored 560SEL in their showroom, what a beauty! The salesperson said it was a presidential car with level 5 armoring.

Thanks for the photos. Someone, someday, is going to be looking at an armored 560 and will use these for reference.

Anyone know if there is a VIN digit that declares 'Armored' or would that be on the options data plate?

Yes indeed! They were asking USD $25,000, which is not bad at all for a car that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to make not that long ago. They also have a Euro 500SE(L) with only 66k miles for 4k...

Interesting! I would love to find out too. When I return to Guatemala City I will write down the number. Heck, I may as well take a bunch of good pictures and help sell the car on eBay!

One more detail: they had an almost identical one, belonging to the owner of the dealership, but it wasn't for sale. It had the fender flag poles and it supposedly had a tear-gas canister release.
