People are quite similar IMO, at least in their raw potential. The societies they live in, and the quality of upbringing they get varies widely. The quality of their upbringing depends on a lot of factors, most greatly influenced by the degree of social evolution their society and culture has attained.

You focus on a narrow part of our culture, and one that is largely an ideal that often doesn't translate to reality at any rate. Looking at the previous 100 years, one can find many examples of Americans, public and private, treating peoples of other nations as though they were expendable bio-mass in the way of progress. And why not, our culture is superior.

As far as I know, and I maybe wrong, pederasty has never been normative in American culture. Anywhere. Even at the depths sexual discrimination it was never normative to murder women for copulating promiscuously.

OTOH, we could look at right now. Which is where we are. And always will be. Those mortarforkers continue in their sexual relations with children and oppression of women. Not to mention slavery and human trafficking.

I didn't volunteer to sing the praise of those people. I tend to think that a baby snatched from such a culture and raised elsewhere will be more like the culture he is raised in. Steve Jobs was half Syrian. No doubt he is distant cousins with some of the fools engaging in random slaughter and rape in Syria. Is there some genetic difference tween Jobs and them?

Our nation is relatively civilized now but not long ago we engaged in the wholesale subjugation and use of dark skinned peoples. The women were often treated as sex slaves and breeding stock for their owners to spawn slaves related to them. Strange stuff and it can't be shrugged away. Somehow we grew out of it somewhat. Nonetheless, stats have it that one in four women in the US are raped in their lifetime so clearly some level of barbarism and depravity still exists here.

The very act of assuming superiority tends to make one stupid. It cuts down on receptivity to new information and experience.
