I saw that two days ago, and laughed my ass off!! She thought she was being cute, and that she would have been given a pass, as has probably happened her entire life.

To see a judge stand up to her was great!

They said that she was strung out on some drug or another, I don't remember what. 30 days in jail might be the blessing in disguise that this girl needs.

Too bad now the tax payers gotta pay while she gets three meals a day and air conditioning. It will probably make her worse. A good beating might have been better...

Nah, most judges deserve worse than the middle finger. Not to mention that said 30 days is a waste of taxpayer $.

I am not sure I like the absolute power that a judge has in the court room. I understand contempt if it is disruptive to the court. I do not like the idea that a judge can levy arbitrary fines for actions or statements that the judge does not like.

In this case the doubling of the fine to $10k seems vindictive and unjustified by the actions. The jail time (if served) will cost the tax payer and I don't think will do anything to help the girl or any knew else. Why not community service?

I tend tk tbjnk judges weld far to muchpower with inadequate oversight.

Why exactly should I respect some political prostitute who managed to con a few thousand voters into electing him? Respect is earned, not automatically due because someone is a good politician.

That's like saying that you call the President Mr. President because he has EARNED the respect. You call the President Mr. President because you are respecting the position.

Flipping off the judge is thumbing your nose at the court system. The court system deserves respect, a concept that some folks on this forum obviously don't have any understanding of.

BTW, how do you know that the particular judge in the video is an elected judge and not an appointed judge, or are you aware that not all judges are elected?

I DO agree with this portion. There are so many child molestors and other irresponsible n'er do wells that liberal judges put on the street who end up doing harm to others, that judges SHOULD have oversight, but GUESS WHAT? There is this thing called the appellate court.

The problem with the country is NOT due to tough judges like the one in the video. The problem is the wimp liberal judges that are scattered throughout the US.

This coming from the person that is begging for more legislation. Pick a side and stick with it...you're giving the rest of us a headache.

Look, the judge can only give the maximum that the law allows, nothing more. She's lucky it was only 30 days...he could have gone up to 6 months or more.
