My uncle from SW PA used to own a couple of these. Always thought it was kinda weird looking back then but now it is kinda intriguing.

is this a sought after automobile?

the car is rock solid. No rot at all, hardly any surface rust either. This car is in great shape.

How could there be any such thing as a good buy on one of these? I would not make any offer, because I would be afraid that they would take it.

Even if it's been well cared for, the price is too high. However, that model is still on the roads, and wasn't a bad vehicle...just odd looking.

I wouldn't pay anymore than $2k, if it's in great shape, because there's not many people that have this car on their must own list.

It's nothing more than an updated, 2 door sedan version of the 1971 American Motors "Hornet Sportabout".

My father bought a new 1985 AMC Eagle wagon - for its 4 wheel drive. There was not too much available in 4x4 cars back then, he looked at a new '86 FORD Bronco II but rejected it (rightly) because the wheelbase was too short. I think one of the new Jeep Cherokee SUV's would have suited, though the early new ones didn't too too well .... they say now...

I regret to say, that despite meticulous care, the Eagle wagon did not fare well. At 49,000 miles it totally fell apart and began leaking from all orifices;

Then one day going down the hill from his house,, the steering wheel locked up on him - he was in his 80s but still driving safely; so he had it towed to the selling dealer, and left it. He never saw it again...

So, in 2002, I found him a really nice 1995 Subaru Outback at the Subaru-Hyundai dealer and he drove it amost to his dying day, and I inherited it, and kept it a few years, and also went to a new 2008 and a new 2011 OB when he died, for the snow up here.

We still have a few of those running around in my area. There must be something good about them for folks to keep them running this long. I still think the price is too high.

The first Eagle wagon I ever saw belonged to a the illegitimate daughter of H. L. Hunt, one time richest man in the world. We were doctoral students together. She went on to become US Ambassador to Austria. Never could figure the purchase of the Eagle.

Back in the early 80's when I was involved with the Pro Rally in Ohio, a couple guys ran these. It was pretty cool to hear the V8 roar rather than a 4 cylinder or rotary...

My dad had an eagle wagon, I always thought it was an odd car. I do want one though because they are rather odd.

I would not trust any Craigslist ad where the seller felt it necessary to include 11 lines of keywords...
