Maybe he doesn’t want to spend a bazillion dollars rescuing the stupid’s. Also it is hard to plow through stuck cars.

Western MA is supposed to get 8", which happens multiple times every winter without all roads being shut down. Stuck cars can and do get plowed to the side once their occupants get removed.

I'd actually be more in support of a simple chain law -- if you don't have chains and there's more than 6" of snow on the road, the cops sell you a set at $50 over the store price.

Your normally efficient sarcasm detector is malfunctioning Jim. Better check it.

This is a joke, ("MA ban on driving your car") right? We would have a field day with that kind of BravoSierra in Texas......

Funniest thing I've heard since hearing the name of the storm; "Nemo!" Freakin' funny!

I want to read of the citations/arrests, fines, and convictions resulting from this MA gubernatorial 'edict.' Ha!

Actually, it must be awful bad weather, since the OP claimed yesterday "he was heading north to ski today....." 0_o

Yep, in another 10 years I won't be able to recognize sarcasm from long established members either.

And, I won't have had the Moderator job for 14 years by that time.

Of course, you'll still refer back to it............because that's all a simple mind can do.

"Mass holes" is the term............

You need to remove the space between the two words, yourself. Even the forum knows the term.

Actually, considering the conditions right now, the edict probably wasn't a bad idea. keeping a lot of people off the roads that would be stuck, with help not necessarily able to get there. My car has totally dissapeared under a drift in my drive, and we still have a day of storm ahead.

Whatever happened to "travel at your own risk, and get out of your car before it gets plowed in?" This may be pretty bad in Boston/RI area, but the forecast for Western Mass isn't unprecedented.

Most of the MA population is on the eastern half of the state more likely to be heavily impacted. No doubt he decided to declare a state wide emergency for the duration of the storm which is really about the 90% of the population concentrated on the eastern half of the state, trying to cut down on cops having to go rescue people stuck.

Aso we have to take into account drifting. 8 inches of snow is no problem, but 8 inches of snow combined with 60 mph winds can quickly become a 8ft high drift that will stop anything, and who knows when help can come by.
The wind combined with the snowfall makes the edict probably the better part of wisdom
