Well, if popular culture is to be believed, im sure hes resigning after a glob of destructive antimatter was stolen from a hot Italian scientist, and Ewan Mcgregor flew around in a helicopter and set himself on fire, ect.

After Tom Hanks ran around looking at all the sights of Rome with the Hot Italian in tow, with a bunch of people getting shot, this deal must have been stuck.

Step down, or Tom Hanks exposes his involvement with the illuminati.

Ex Benedict.

News is saying this is the first pope to resign in over 500 years.

Who thinks there is more to this than his age?

t walgamuth 02-11-2013 09:35 AM

I imagine it has to do with all the coverups on child molesting.

I don't see any big conspiracy here, and I'm a recovering cat-lick who never liked the old nazi anyhow. He has gone on record in the past saying he thinks a pope has an obligation to step down if he is to infirm to carry out the ministry. Maybe he just wants to save the church from some of the ruckus that takes place when the pope is actively dying.

First to die in office in 400 years?

I saw a picture of him recently in the catholic press and he looked pretty bad. He is an old man to begin with and this job (like president) is really hard on people. Just look at the before and after pictures of our past presidents. I don't doubt that there is a plan afoot to replace him with another old school hard-liner, but I do respect him for stepping down as his health is failing. Depending on how you count, there have be 6 other popes resign and the church has a procedure for it. Conclave will begin immediately after his resignation takes effect rather than the normal 9 days of mourning after death of a pope. There is online wagering if you want to place a bet on who the new pope will be.
