snow driving ridiculousness
:D
just had to post that im having the most entertaining time driving around for work reasons and over the last couple days watching the chaos of people driving in the snow. 1. Subaru owners. Apparently there is some kind of chemical released in subarus that makes the owner think that their car is unstoppable in any condition, and makes them believe that good 4x4 traction at slow speeds automatically means fabulous traction at higher speeds and imperviousness to ice or slippery conditions. :D So far ive seen a subaru blow by me on the highway in a 1/2 snow covered lane, then go off into median when the predictable happened (this same thing happened a few years ago to my enjoyment), and several stuck in deep snow with all 4 tires spinning. 2. Anyone who has an AWD sports car. Earlier this morning, lowered AWD BMW with what looked like nearly bald racing tires stuck across the road blocking all traffic and flooring the pedal. My friend has reported the same problem across town with a souped up lowered WRX. so far doing pretty well in my old VW diesel with decent clearance, and 4 good snow tires. Only issue is a pronounced tendency to float on the rear. I partly altered this tendency by moving my studded pair of snows to the rear. It has a real nasty ability to suddenly slide back there. I need to fill the trunk with cinderblocks I guess. What are the reports from elsewhere? |

Clown Vick taxicab stuck on my street yesterday, spinning it's wheels and digging deeper. It's a hill, but not a steep one, and my 240d climbed it easily without chains or winter tires 15 minutes later.

I've been nicely insulated from DB drivers in this one, as I have not gone away from home since Friday (not counting skidsteer forays around the block...) Now It's raining and supposed to be in the 40's all week. Guess this snow will be gone almost as quick as it came. |
Rain. Old fart and ladyboy weather. Good thing it's suppose to be back as winter should be by next weekend.

I did see a burned out F-250 plowtruck carcass just over the line in Hartford. Looked like the guy just got the apron cleared and was making his way into the parking lot when something let go. I figured I didn't have much to b!tch about after seeing that. His day was a LOT worse than mine. Quote:

Whats this snow business? Its 45F here in Ohio! :p
The one day a few weeks ago, before xmas, it was particuarly bad. I didnt have snows on at the time and the car ran fine mostly. No problems to report, everyone did like 40 mph on the turnpike. Semi trucks loved to blow by everyone in the far left lane doing like 60. |

Good god.
Every time I let mine get long, they tend to cut through my socks and make holes. Those look like they have saw teeth on them |
