Thanks for posting this Tx! It was on the tail of another thread and got buried. This thread should get the attention it deserves.

I saw several interviews with Kyle. I was an admirer. I admired his service, his attitude and his love for America. He also was a fellow North Texan. I kept meaning to buy his book, so now I guess I will get off my duff and find a copy.

a side note --

The first individual reading this who contacts me and would like a free excellent condition hardback copy of "No Easy Day", the best-selling account of the U.S. Navy Seals mission that was undertaken to kill Osama bin Laden, may have it, send a pm w/mailing address. Give me a couple of $$ for postage is all I ask.

This is one of those times, Sandy Hook was one of those times, times like those are the cost of maintaining a great and important freedom, unfortunately.

But we should remain mindful of the much greater cost that has been paid to seize and secure; for past generations, for this generation, and for future generations, that great and important freedom.

“For the most part, the public is very soft. You live in a dreamworld,” he told Time magazine last year. “You have no idea what goes on on the other side of the world, the harsh realities that these people are doing to themselves and then our guys. And there are certain things that need to be done to take care of them.”

From the "Man Who Would be King Department"

"Chris Kyle’s death seems to confirm that ‘he who lives by the sword dies by the sword.’ Treating PTSD at a firing range doesn’t make sense."
- Former Rep. Ron Paul

I picked up the book last year during the time that talk was going around that "...some vets are overstepping their bounds on what they are talking about and...blah, blah, blah..."

I found it extremely entertaining and from the author's POV, very realistic.

If any of you folks want to take Jim B. up on his offer, the cost of postage alone is more than a bargain.

Read it, enjoy it and then, pass it along.

They'll thank you.

Kyle was without a doubt the real thing. I liked the way he just laid out the facts.

No big over the top, no screaming and yelling.... Just 'This is what I saw; this is what I know.'

Ron Paul seems to not understand that Kyle had been in very difficult situations before and understood the situation he was getting into better than Paul ever will.

Every attempt to do good carries a risk, and Kyle was willing to take it.

Very good! We find common ground from time to time!

Sad on so many levels. Maybe it will be a wake up call to give these guys and girls that saw combat everything they need when it comes to their mental health. Chris Kyle sure seemed to have handled it well, unfortunately the Marine suspect needed more.

Yes Chris Kyle was a special person.

Not ALL vets will suffer PTSD. Generally speaking, they are a cross section of America. As in any group there are strong ones, weak ones, bad ones and good ones.
