I see no irony. What I do see is certain persons unable to realize that a wrong is a wrong, regardless of another wrong. You, like tbo, don't see the application of a tu quoque fallacy. Quote:
Certainly it's just as logical as your suggestion. |
Glad you had the experience without additional problems with the DB's on the road...;)
Bet you won't push the mileage again without spare fuel in the trunk.:D |

You fail to see the logic that connects these two events and you never will. |

From what I observed on this thread, I bet you're wrong. |

Heck, just having to bleed the fuel system to restart the engine is enough of a PITA to keep me from pushing the mileage... |

The one time I ran out, I did like I've done on other diesels... Loosened the fuel filter and pumped until fuel came out, then cracked the lines at each injector and pumped until fuel was present.... Still... just because repriming is easier than I thought, I believe I will continue to err on the side of caution. With my luck, I would run out on a long, curved, uphill onramp....at rush hour... or.... on the Merritt.... |

That trip caused me the greatest possible pucker factor when I decided to take it across the Throgs Neck Bridge with heavy traffic...........uphill climb for nearly one mile. My palms were sweating bullets............vehicle doing 35 mph in the right lane............DB's going ballistic............. This is a case where I blame myself, unlike the OP. I do not blame any other persons on the Merritt or the TNB for nearly killing me. If I had simply purchased an OE primary filter none of that misery would have occurred. |

Give's me the pucker just thinking about it. |

I only managed to run out of fuel once....less then a mile from home (I would have made it had it not been for the lemming in front of me on the way home from work who decided to be on the brakes ALL the way down EVERY hill :mad:) Anywho point is I keep a jerry can with an extra 5 gallons on me at all times and in this particular case the #1 concern was to get back on the road ASAP. I could feel her going and I knew why so I pulled completely off the road onto the grass, turned the engine off, grabbed the can, put in about half a gallon in and made it the rest of the way home before I poured the rest of the fuel into the tank in the driveway. Total time to do this was less then a minute :) |

That's because you're a man who thinks ahead and plans for those situations where failure could cause you serious injury or death. Or you can just blame others for your own stupidity............your choice. |

Now where did I put that tow rope that I used to pull a co-worker out of the snow last week......:D |

If I rob a store, it gives no one else justification to rob the same store. If I do something stupid, it gives no one else justification to to something stupid. |

I had a jerrycan in the trunk. It was empty because I used the fuel and forgot to refill it. |

Or making sure that you schedule minor repairs at the local dealer so that MB roadside assistance availability never lapses? Or having roadside assistance through your insurance company? Guess you'd rather just assume..... Quote:
If you're going to accuse me of something, you might at least try to be accurate about it. |
