Dodge bringing out 1500 series in a diesel

Bout time. Take a look at the engine they are using. Wonder how long before we see the Toyota turbo diesel Hilux:).

Dodge diesel

Awesome. It looks like more and more diesels are finally coming around.

Ram ProMaster van brings Italian style cargo carrying to the New World | Fox News

Dodge diesel

It's about G-D time followed by I'll believe it when I see it.

Cool! who makes the engine? Will it be offered with a stick?

DeliveryValve 02-15-2013 07:04 AM

Dodge trucks are no more. It's call "Ram" now.

I've read it's the same motor offered in the Jeep Grand Cherokee a 3.0l diesel built by VM Motori in Italy.
Here is some internal shots of the motor in a Banks flavor.
Inside The Banks VM Motori 3.0L 630T V6 Diesel Engine - Diesel Power Magazine

It appears they are only offering up a 8 speed ZF automatic.

Might finally be a more efficient replacement for our '96 E350 Powerstroke workhorse. I was excited about the Sprinter. But in order to carry two tons and accommodate the dual rear wheels, the wheel wells were pushed inward eliminating the possibility of forklift loading a standard 40" wide pallet.

None of the modern diesel domestics offer the carrying capacity in a van configuration because of the heavier powerplants and the modern euro options don't offer the dimensional capacity or carrying capacity and/or diesel option. This looks promising. The upfit and configuration options are impressive.

As long as the tranny and engine computers are not intertwined too much.
