I was wondering -- the smallest Ram/Dodge Promaster is very similar in proportion and design to the old VW Eurovan. OK, 10" longer and higher, but still pretty small for a full-size van. It will probably get high 20s to low 30s highway with the 5-cyl Diesel.

How long before some company sells a conversion kit with a boat toilet, propane range/frig, folding bed, and pop-top? It would make a sweet little mini-camper.

Correct, but I was thinking of something built on the short van body, rather than bolting on a fat, waddling camper body. Basically make it a camper that you could park in a normal garage, , assuming it's tall enough, or parallel-park on a city street.

Those won't take long either. Nearly any van conversion company would be able to put something together...it would depend merely on price. If you get enough people interested in it, the price would be less.

I assume it would be cheaper as an add on box, pre-manufactured, with made to order configurations. Point and click catalog, pick what you want, wait 60 days, and go pick it up.

I wonder if a pop-top (really the only custom part) for the Ducato is avail in Europe, and what it would take to start importing them as kits. Cut, drill, seal, bolt to the roof structure, done. If the roof is more or less flat, it may even be possible to use a poptop intended for a different vehicle.

I'm talking about an existing vanbody, not an "ambulance" type conversion.

Era Motorhomes this is the winnebago b series.so as you can see they already do a sprinter so the new ram will be no problem.i drive by the factory every so often i'll have to keep an eye out for the promaster chassis in the lot.

Yes, the people already converting Sprinters will jump on the Dodge I think. They'll do both Class B and Class C versions.

If this is the model for their motorhome, this is WAY longer than it needs to be. The idea is to be car-sized and parkable anywhere a mid-sized car is -- the small Promaster is 195" long, which is 3" longer than a Volvo 240 wagon.

Front Wheel Drive?????? CV joints will be shot after a week of bouncing off curbs on crowded city parking spaces.

Those Fiat vans are very popular for motorhomes in Europe. Have been for many years.
