Does anyone here drive with a dash cam?

I thought it might come in handy. They are fairly cheap now too.

I have done some flying with one. It's so cheap to get one these days it's not a bad idea.

Nope, but I do have an iPhone set up to upload video and voice to the Internet, so even if it's confiscated, a record would remain. It's turned on and propped up inconspicuously during any traffic stop or interaction with illegal Border Pig checkpoints out West.

It should be designed so footage can be easily kept or deleted at the user's convenience, but not at a donut-porker's convenience.

The Daily Show had a good piece on the Russian thing for dash cams:

How I Meteored Your Motherland - The Daily Show with Jon Stewart - 02/19/13 - Video Clip | Comedy Central

Had some of the clips in your link but some other good ones.

What unit did you keep and do you know what they sell for? Also, how many hours of footage do they store before you need to reset?

Knight was the retail name (ROC) Wide Angle Front and rear cam with flip down 2" screen. Date/Time Stamp records 2/5/10/15 minute intervals then hold clip in packet and stores on 32G Card - once card is full it records over 1st packet. Thats weeks of driving for me. 1280x720 HD We bought 50 or so and they ran about $55 @ (not including 32G Card). It comes on and off with ignition so you don't have to screw with anything. If you want to watch anthing just slip the SD card out into a reader port and open the time stamped packets.

Not if it's set up to destroy evidence at the press of a button and make like it never recorded.

Thanks - good info, I might do it.

That is something to think about. If you knew it erased thoroughly with no option of some sort of high tech recovery would give you some room for safety. I guess I'd be driving more carefully if I had one, not that I'm careless now.
